PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Max (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikel Millar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Millar has chosen Gangnam Style as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Bruce Max is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bruce Max!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mikel Millar!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Sano and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Max. Those never looked like landing.
Millar avoids the head kick by Max.
Millar feints and then cracks Max's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Max down.

Millar gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
A frustrated look appears on Max's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Millar is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Millar breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Max tries to clinch but Millar moves away

and Millar counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Millar.

Millar pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Millar.

Millar lands a body shot in the clinch.
Max jumps guard but Millar turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Max is breathing heavily.

Millar ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Millar no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Millar is adopting a defensive guard.
Max knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Millar on the ground.

Max looking to sit in guard and control but Millar gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Millar is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Max is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Millar controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Max wants to sweep but no luck.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mikel Millar hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Millar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Max is being controlled here.
Max gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee warns Max that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Millar is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Max can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Millar is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Max can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Max in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Millar lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Max hang on?

Let's hope that Millar has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Millar instigates a clinch.
Millar has Max pressed against the cage, preventing Max from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Max wants to break the clinch but can't.

Millar manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Millar looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Millar lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Max!

Millar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Millar cracks Max with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Millar is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Millar extends the arm and Max is forced to tap!

A relieved looking Mikel Millar thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
