The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chaka works over Tomcik's head and body with a nice combination.
Chaka rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Tomcik counters with a leg kick.
Tomcik is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Chaka.
Chaka tries a head kick but it misses.
Tomcik lands a front kick.
Tomcik thows a body shot but no joy.
Tomcik moves away from the strike by Chaka.
Chaka looks to throw the jab but Tomcik is out of range.

Tomcik fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chaka manages to avoid it.

Chaka misses with a jab to the body

and Tomcik counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Chaka!

Tomcik wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Chaka, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Chaka is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Chaka is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tomcik off and has taken his back!

Tomcik has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chaka can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Chaka lands a big shot there that rocks Tomcik but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
