PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Vinnie Vector (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Apollo Takamura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vector comes to the cage accompanied by Hollywood Undead-Undead. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Apollo Takamura!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Shimada and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vector blocks a low kick nicely.
Vector fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Takamura.
Takamura throws a jab when Vector was well out of range.
Takamura ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vector moves away.
Takamura throws a leg kick but Vector moved away.
Some bone on bone action there as Takamura checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Takamura misses the shot to the body.
Takamura misses with a wild body shot.
Takamura tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Takamura darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Vector slips under a jab from Takamura.
Takamura misses with a looping right.
Takamura throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Vector takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Vector fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Takamura checks it well.
Takamura fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vector manages to avoid it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Takamura lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Vector pushes Takamura up against the cage in a clinch.
Vector lands with a left to the head.
Takamura is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Vector with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Vector trying to land knees to the body.
Vector tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Vector lands an elbow just above Takamura 's eye.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vector lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Takamura.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Vector lands a left hand that snaps the head of Takamura backwards.

Vector's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Takamura scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Vinnie Vector will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Takamura throws an off balance right hand
and Vector counters with a lovely shot to the body.
An inside leg kick lands from Vector.
Takamura tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Takamura throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A looping hook to the body misses from Takamura. Vector does a little dance to reset his feet.
Donk. Takamura catches Vector right on the button with a cross.
A leg kick checked by Vector.

Takamura thows a body shot but no joy.
Vector buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Vector walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Takamura checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Vector gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Vector breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Takamura lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Takamura misses the shot to the body.
Takamura closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Takamura throws a body punch but Vector moves out of range.
Vector tries to clinch but Takamura is having none of it.
Vector connects with a leg kick. Takamura looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Vector lands a head shot.
Takamura misses the shot to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vector slips a jab and a cross from Takamura.
A combination from Takamura does no damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Vector counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Takamura swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vector uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Takamura looks to land a right hand but Vector moved out of range.
Vector showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Takamura.
Apollo Takamura seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Vector misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Vector checks a low kick from Takamura.
Vector throws a sloppy head kick and Takamura moves out of range easily.
Takamura cracks Vector with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Takamura throws a left and a right that both miss
and Vector counters with a good low kick that Takamura was not able to check.
Takamura fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Apollo Takamura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Takamura throws a half hearted mid kick.

Vector throws a leg kick which misses Takamura's front leg but catches the back leg as Takamura tries to avoid it.
Takamura misses with a wild body shot.
A low kick from Takamura misses
and Vector counters with a thumping low kick.
Vector blocks a leg kick.
Takamura throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Vector lunges at Takamura with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Takamura's hand.
Apollo Takamura has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Vinnie Vector is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
