Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mar Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Rhea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mar Adams has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mar Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Rhea!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rhea closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rhea is trying to get an arm triangle but Adams is defending well.

Rhea looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Rhea lands a few punches from side control.

Rhea wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Adams, who protects the arm well.
Rhea throws a strike aimed at the side of Adams's head but Adams avoids it well.
Rhea creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Adams sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rhea goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Adams has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Rhea but great work by Adams.
Rhea wants to control but Adams postures up.
Adams wants to control but Rhea is keeping him busy.
Adams working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rhea manages to work his way to half guard, despite Adams's best efforts.

Rhea makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Adams fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Rhea closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Adams quickly recovers to half guard.

Rhea decides to return to a standing position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rhea gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Adams's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rhea drives through with a takedown into Adams's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Rhea postures up and lands a big shot to Adams's brow.

Rhea gets to his feet - Adams follows without any prompting.
Adams misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rhea.

Rhea stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

and Adams counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Rhea defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Adams.
Adams jabs at Rhea's body.
Adams scores with a one two! Rhea had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
A head kick misses from Rhea.
Rhea tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Adams swivels and escapes.
Adams catches Rhea with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Rhea walks into a straight right hand from Adams.
Adams throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rhea's waist but Rhea gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Adams off to one side.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Adams avoids the head kick by Rhea.

Rhea misses with a body shot
and Adams counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Jab by Adams.
Rhea misses with a leg kick.
Adams shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rhea sprawls well. Rhea wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Adams gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mar Adams. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rhea throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Adams counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Adams shoots for a double leg takedown but Rhea sprawls well. He's pushed Adams's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Adams's jab looks to have found its range, popping Rhea under the eye.

Rhea closes the distance and pushes Adams back into the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Adams is trying to pull guard but Rhea turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Adams jumps guard but Rhea turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Adams pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Rhea dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Rhea tries to land a leg kick but Adams saw it coming and moves away.
Rhea sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Adams misses with a jab, cross combination.
Adams tries to clinch there but Rhea circles away.

Rhea feints and as Adams raises his hands in defense, Rhea changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rhea has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rhea throwing strikes from guard but Adams blocks nicely.
Adams controls Rhea momentarily but Rhea frees himself.
Rhea controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Rhea stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Adams swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rhea is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Rhea sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Adams's guard.
Nice strikes from Rhea there.
Rhea works his way into side control.
Rhea tries to advance to mount but Adams denies him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rhea decides to stand back up. Rhea steps back and let's Adams get back to his feet.
Rhea throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Adams's waist but Adams gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rhea off to one side.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Adams.
Rhea is breathing heavily.
Adams tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Rhea manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Adams misses with a takedown attempt - Rhea sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Adams is looking to clinch but Rhea is avoiding it.
Rhea takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rhea drops his hands momentarily and Adams takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Rhea misses with a head kick.
Rhea takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Rhea fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Adams moves into the clinch.

Adams manages to break the clinch.
Rhea fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mar Adams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric Rhea.
Adams tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rhea swivels and escapes.

Adams has managed to clinch.
Rhea has Adams pushed against the cage.

Rhea landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Adams tries to pull guard but Rhea holds him up against the cage and eventually Adams drops back down to his feet.
Adams has Rhea pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rhea manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Rhea pulls guard.
Adams will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Adams trying to control but Rhea is working from the bottom.
Adams chips away with some ground and pound.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rhea has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Adams should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Rhea has tightened it up now! Adams should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
