Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cody Lehmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Norman Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cody Lehmann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Norman Bates!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bates fails with a takedown attempt.

Lehmann scores with a takedown into Bates's guard.
Bates is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Bates keeping moving, preventing Lehmann from controlling successfully.

Bates wriggles free and stands up.

Lehmann gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bates to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Lehmann really is a fat lump.

Bates is pushing down on Lehmann's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lehmann is fighting to maintain full guard but Bates has managed to sneak the leg through.
Lehmann might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bates in particular looking to stall.
Lehmann wants to control but Bates is keeping busy.

Lehmann wants to get back to his feet but Bates is dominant here and he's now got Lehmann's back!

Lehmann is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Bates controls Lehmann momentarily but Lehmann frees himself.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Lehmann closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Bates did well to prevent Lehmann getting side control.
Lehmann is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Bates pulls Lehmann in close to prevent any damage.
Lehmann wants to control from the top but Bates keeps moving.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bates is pulling down on Lehmann's head to control his posture.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Lehmann misses with a body kick.

Lehmann shoots in and gets a takedown into Bates's guard.

Bates has control of Lehmann's left arm, preventing Lehmann from doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lehmann decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Bates, up you get!

Lehmann throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bates was covering up waiting for the punch and Lehmann finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bates has his hands on Lehmann's head, controlling the position.
Lehmann wants to stand but Bates has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Bates has his foot on Lehmann's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lehmann works his way back into a safe position though.
Bates controls Lehmann momentarily but Lehmann frees himself.
Bates has his hands on Lehmann's head, controlling the position.

Bates has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lehmann can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Lehmann wants to control from the top but Bates keeps moving.
Bates has Lehmann pulled in close to control his posture.
Lehmann trying to control but Bates is working from the bottom.
Lehmann has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Cody Lehmann.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lehmann wants to stand but Bates has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Norman Bates.
Bates will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lehmann swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Bates counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Lehmann!

Bates thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Lehmann struggling a bit here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lehmann tries to bench press Bates off him but Bates keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Norman Bates will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


No luck for Bates with that takedown attempt.
Lehmann looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Bates swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Lehmann counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Lehmann turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Lehmann manages to end up in side control.
Bates manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Lehmann has a hand on Bates's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Bates takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Bates tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Lehmann stops Bates from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Poor strikes thrown by Bates there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Lehmann is looking to improve his position but Bates isn't that keen on the idea.

Bates wants to control the action but instead Lehmann gets a body lock and reverses into Bates's guard! Nice work!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bates working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lehmann doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Bates is tightening it up a little... Lehmann has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Lehmann reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Lehmann taps out! Nice BJJ there by Bates!
