PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Power Ranger Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Coke Poep (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Green kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Remember the Name. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Power Ranger Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Coke Poep!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Green throws a series of punches but Poep avoids them all with ease.
Poep shoots in looking for a takedown but Green manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Poep's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Green throws a hook to the side of Poep's head but Poep sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Green throws a right hand that misses

and Poep counters with a shoot takedown. Green fights it but they end up in guard.
Poep controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Poep wants to pass the guard but Green is keeping the position.

Green is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Green has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Poep is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Green.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Green throws a head kick but Poep moves out of range.

Let's hope that Poep has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Poep is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Green knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Poep closes the distance and clinches up with Green, looking for a takedown. Poep pushes Green against the cage but Green circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Coke Poep showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Nice uppercut lands for Green. That snapped Poep's head back.

Power Ranger Green has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Coke Poep.
Poep shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Green pinned against the cage. Green gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Green gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Poep to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Poep sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Green's guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Power Ranger Green.
I think Poep has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
