Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Calzaghe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Gates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Calzaghe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Gates! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gates misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Calzaghe goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Calzaghe stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Calzaghe wants it to stay on the feet. Calzaghe catches Gates with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Calzaghe misses with a jab, cross combination.
Calzaghe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gates paws at him with a jab and circles away. Calzaghe darts in trying to clinch and Gates counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Gates is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Calzaghe doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gates. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gates is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Calzaghe sees it coming and defends easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gates content to control rather than advance. Gates tries to pass to full mount but Calzaghe defends it. Gates is nestled in close to Calzaghe, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gates seems to be looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gates wants to pass to mount but Calzaghe is defending the position. Gates keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Gates is working for a kimura but Calzaghe is defending it quite comfortably.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Calzaghe is trying to maintain the position but Gates is very close to passing his half guard. Gates stalling. Gates thows a huge punch but Calzaghe dodges it nicely.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jack Gates hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Calzaghe misses with the combination.
Calzaghe tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gates is defended easily by Calzaghe. Joe Calzaghe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Gates. Gates closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gates controls the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gates. Calzaghe wants to clinch and Gates counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Calzaghe gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Gates.
Calzaghe is looking to break free of the clinch but Gates has double underhooks. Gates is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Calzaghe pulls him back up using the underhooks. Joe Calzaghe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Gates. Calzaghe can't break the clinch.

Gates moves out of range as Calzaghe throws a body kick.
Calzaghe with a hook. The fight stays on the outside here - Calzaghe looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Calzaghe misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gates drives through with a takedown into Calzaghe's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Gates lands a couple of digs. Gates lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Gates controlling from the top position. Gates has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Calzaghe wants to get back to his feet but Gates is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Gates passes Calzaghe's left leg - he's now in half guard. Gates slows the pace down in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Calzaghe tries to roll over but Gates keeps him under control. Gates works his way into full mount! Gates landing punches. This has been an exciting period of action! Gates unloading with bombs! Calzaghe defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gates. Gates dominating with strikes here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gates fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Gates won't let Calzaghe get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gates is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Calzaghe to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Calzaghe shrugs it off. Gates is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Calzaghe is surviving well by controlling Gates's body position as best he can. Calzaghe wants to control but Gates is having none of it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gates jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Calzaghe is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Calzaghe and Gates has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Gates just content to control the position. Gates looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Gates cracks Calzaghe with a big elbow. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Calzaghe takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Gates has hold of Calzaghe's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Calzaghe seems comfortable defending it but Gates has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Calzaghe is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Calzaghe is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Gates couldn't care less - he's delighted!
