Fonseca's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Funkist-Snow Fairy. Augusto has chosen Funkist-Snow Fairy as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matheus Fonseca!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miguel Augusto!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Augusto closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fonseca did well to prevent Augusto getting side control.

Augusto seems to be working for a kimura but Fonseca defends the submission attempt.
Fonseca makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fonseca.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fonseca looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Augusto drops back looking for a leg! Fonseca is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Fonseca manages to kick Augusto off! Augusto jumps back into Fonseca's guard.

Augusto drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Augusto jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Augusto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fonseca swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fonseca is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Augusto is aware though and is defending well.

Augusto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fonseca has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Augusto has managed to get both his arms back between Fonseca's legs - danger averted.

Fonseca escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Augusto gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Augusto drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Augusto jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fonseca is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Augusto advances position into side control!

Augusto is working to tighten is grip on Fonseca's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Fonseca has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Augusto is really squeezing tight and eventually Fonseca passes out! Augusto breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Miguel Augusto!
