Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Peter Green! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bertrand Paulsen! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Sergei Dronov and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paulsen tries to clinch there but Green circles away.
Green throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Paulsen was covering up waiting for the punch and Green finishes the takedown easily into guard. Green content to stall in guard here. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Paulsen can do anything to dispel that myth. Green stops Paulsen from standing up. Paulsen is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Green's corner is telling him to maintain position.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Bertrand Paulsen hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Paulsen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Paulsen feints and as Green raises his hands in defense, Paulsen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paulsen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Green works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Green looking for a triangle here. Paulsen is fighting it but it looks tight! Green pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Paulsen is tapping out - this one is all over!
