8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hammer Fist! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hughes gets a double leg takedown into Fist's guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Hughes wants to control from the top but Fist keeps moving. Hughes wants to stand but Fist has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Hughes tries to free his leg and advance position but Fist is retaining full guard. Fist keeping moving, preventing Hughes from controlling successfully. Hughes has gone for a leg lock! Fist slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hughes's guard. Hughes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fist is one step ahead there. Fist drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hughes dives on top into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fist is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Hughes pushing down on Fist's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Hughes is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fist doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hughes.
