Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Courchesne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmer Octopulus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Courchesne comes to the cage accompanied by Lux Aeterna By Clint Mansell. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonathan Courchesne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmer Octopulus!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Octopulus lands a nice looking kick to the body. Courchesne takes a step back to recover.
Octopulus throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Octopulus connects with a good right hand that stumbles Courchesne. Courchesne circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Octopulus misses with a leg kick

and Courchesne counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Octopulus's guard now.
Courchesne wants to control from the top but Octopulus keeps moving.
Octopulus wants to stand and escape but Courchesne is having none of it.
Courchesne wants to pass the guard but Octopulus is keeping the position.

Courchesne is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Octopulus is on top in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Courchesne manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Octopulus manages to get himself to full guard.

Octopulus is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Courchesne pulls his head out easily.
Courchesne thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Octopulus's head.

Courchesne thows a huge punch but Octopulus dodges it nicely.
Octopulus won't allow Courchesne to pass to mount.
Courchesne looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Octopulus with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Courchesne is keen to just control but Octopulus is a slippery customer.

Courchesne uses his free foot to push down on Octopulus's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Octopulus.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee warns Octopulus that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Courchesne postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Octopulus looks a forlorn figure.

This has been an exciting period of action!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Courchesne sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Octopulus keeps Courchesne at a distance using the push kick.
Octopulus jabs Courchesne right on the nose. Courchesne blinks but takes it well.
Octopulus tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A head kick from Octopulus lands but Courchesne takes it in his stride.

and Courchesne counters with a nice double leg into side control. Octopulus won't be happy with that.
Courchesne looks up at the clock and then as Octopulus takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Courchesne smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Courchesne misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Courchesne cracks Octopulus with a big right hand but Octopulus just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Courchesne creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Octopulus sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Octopulus has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Courchesne can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Octopulus feints and then cracks Courchesne's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Courchesne down.
Octopulus throws the kick towards the body but Courchesne avoids it.
Jimmer Octopulus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Octopulus bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Courchesne's head.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Octopulus holds on and takes a little breather.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jimmer Octopulus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Octopulus tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Octopulus has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Octopulus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Courchesne keeps working.
Courchesne is looking to regain half guard here but Octopulus keeps moving and retains side control.
Courchesne is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Courchesne is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Octopulus scores with a couple of nice shots.

Jonathan Courchesne decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
