Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 8 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Robert Henry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Garrett Hudson! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Henry shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hudson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Hudson controlling the position. Hudson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Henry. Hudson has control of Henry's left arm, preventing Henry from doing any damage. Hudson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Garrett Hudson was stalling too much, according to the referee. Henry tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hudson swats him away and circles back towards the center. Hudson dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Hudson scores with a jab. Henry acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Hudson tests Henry's chin there with a solid looking shot. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Henry lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Henry wants to clinch up but Hudson keeps it at a distance. Henry scores with a crisp jab that stopped Hudson in his tracks.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hudson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Hudson looks to land a right hand but Henry moved out of range. Henry misses the body punch and Hudson counters with a right hand to the body. Henry tries to clinch but Hudson moves out of range. Henry has Hudson up against the cage in a clinch.
Hudson stalling in the clinch but Henry improves position. Henry is trying to break the clinch but Hudson is controlling him. Hudson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Robert Henry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Henry takes a body punch but keeps moving. Hudson scores with a jab to the body. Hudson dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Hudson throws a combination that misses and Henry counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Henry with the ground and pound but Hudson uses the opportunity to regain guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hudson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Hudson has his hands on Henry's head, controlling the position. Hudson pushes Henry off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Henry doesn't manage to clinch there - Hudson circles away.

Henry closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Henry seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Henry is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Hudson is trying to control but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hudson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Hudson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Hudson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hudson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Henry gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Hudson wants to sweep here but Henry controlling him for the moment. Hudson keeping full guard, as Henry tries to pass. Hudson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Henry wants to control from the top but Hudson keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Henry is looking to work some ground and pound but Hudson has wrist control. Henry working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Henry postures up and lands a big shot to Hudson's brow. Hudson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Hudson managing to control the position. Henry loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hudson has momentary wrist control but Henry slips an elbow through the middle. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Henry scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Henry throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hudson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Hudson can't keep his opponent in guard - Henry advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Henry missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Henry prevents Hudson from improving his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Robert Henry will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

enabling Hudson to counter with a crisp jab. Hudson pushes Henry up against the cage in a clinch. Henry landing knees to the body.
Hudson working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Henry is trying to break the clinch but Hudson has him pressed against the cage. Hudson is looking to control Henry's arms but Henry gets an underhook and turns him. Now Hudson has his back to the cage. Hudson avoiding damage as Henry throws knees to the body.
Henry prevents a body shot from Hudson. Hudson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Hudson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Henrys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Henry fails with a takedown attempt. Henry fails with an attempt to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hudson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Henry tries to clinch up. Henry ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hudson moves away. Henry throws a right and a left that Hudson avoids nicely. Donk. Hudson catches Henry right on the button with a cross. Henry on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Henry is rocked! Hudson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Henry shoots for a double leg takedown but Hudson sprawls well. He's pushed Henry's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Hudson scores with a nice head shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hudson avoids the body shot from Henry.
Hudson lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Garrett Hudson seems to be getting the better of the standup. Henry walks into a left hand. Oh Henry is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Henry switches off momentarily and Hudson cracks him with a monster right hand! Henry topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Hudson dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Hudson!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Garrett Hudson! In his post fight interview, Garrett Hudson started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
