Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pavel Vodenisov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Helgeir Vikingson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pavel Vodenisov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Helgeir Vikingson!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vodenisov drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Vikingson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Vodenisov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Vikingson is taking a breather. Vodenisov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Vodenisov keeping control of the position.
Vikingson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Vikingson controlling the position easily from mount.

Vikingson avoids the attempt from Vodenisov to control.
Vikingson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Vodenisov is working to get back to half guard.
Vikingson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
A nice elbow there by Vikingson.

Vikingson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Vodenisov throwing hammer fists to the chest of Vikingson. What's that going to do exactly?
Vikingson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Vodenisov is wriggling around trying to escape.
Vodenisov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Vikingson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Vodenisov regains half guard.
Vikingson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Vikingson is looking to take a break and control but Vodenisov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Vikingson in particular looking to stall.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Vodenisov has one foot on Vikingson's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
A head kick misses from Vikingson.
Vikingson fails to land the takedown.
Vodenisov tries to close the distance and clinch but Vikingson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Vodenisov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Vikingson is fending him off so far but Vodenisov persists. Nope, Vikingson circles away and we're back to standing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vodenisov lands with a left to the head.
Vodenisov is trying to break the clinch but Vikingson is controlling him.

Vodenisov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Helgeir Vikingson dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Vodenisov is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Vodenisov fails with the takedown
and Vikingson counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Vodenisov has a takedown stuffed.
Vikingson misses with a few strikes there.

Vikingson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Vikingson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Vodenisov pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Vodenisov gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vodenisov drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Vikingson dives on top into guard.
Vikingson wants to pass the guard but Vodenisov is keeping the position.

Vodenisov not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Vikingson postures up and lands a big shot to Vodenisov's brow.

Vikingson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Vodenisov is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Vodenisov has escaped and now he's on top!
Vikingson is striking but Vodenisov is not phased and passes to half guard.
Vikingson wants to get back to his feet.

Vodenisov trying to mount his opponent but Vikingson defends it.
Vikingson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Vodenisov's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Vodenisov's back!
Vodenisov can't escape the position.
Vikingson lands a shot to the body.
Good control from Vikingson.
Vikingson is breathing heavily.
Vodenisov tries to break free.
Vodenisov trying to control the hands but Vikingson won't let him.

Vodenisov is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Vikingson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Vodenisov has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Vodenisov grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

Vikingson is looking to control Vodenisov but Vodenisov is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Vodenisov is in bad spot here.
Vikingson is trying to stick to Vodenisov's back but Vodenisov is turning into Vikingson. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Vikingson's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Vodenisov.

Vodenisov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vikingson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vikingson can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vikingson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vodenisov manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Helgeir Vikingson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Nice uppercut lands for Vodenisov. That snapped Vikingson's head back.
Vodenisov shoots in looking for a takedown but Vikingson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vodenisov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Vodenisov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Horrible takedown by Vikingson or perhaps it was just good defense by Vodenisov which made him look bad.

Vikingson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vodenisov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Vodenisov is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vikingson defends it well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Vikingson actively working from the bottom here.

Vikingson is looking to improve his position.

Vikingson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Vodenisov pulls his head out easily.
Vikingson wants to get back to full guard.
Vodenisov wants to pass to mount but Vikingson is defending the position.
Vikingson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Vodenisov.

Vikingson is in trouble now - Vodenisov has advanced to mount!
Vikingson looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Vodenisov throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Vikingson!
Vodenisov has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Vikingson's body.

Vikingson has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Vodenisov.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Vodenisov.
Vikingson avoids the strikes from Vodenisov.

Vikingson is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Vodenisov gets his way!

Vodenisov is riding his opponent, not letting Vikingson buck him off.
Vodenisov has the hooks in. Vikingson is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Vodenisov's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Vikingson can't escape the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vikingson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Pavel Vodenisov showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Vikingson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
