Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Donald De Souza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roman Peirce! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De Souza tries for a takedown but Peirce sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. De Souza shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Peirce as he jumps to the side. Donald De Souza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Peirce moves into the clinch. De Souza is trying to pull guard but Peirce has him pressed against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Donald De Souza. That's going to take a lot out of him. De Souza is trying to pull guard but Peirce turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Peirce with a knee to the head.
It looks like Donald De Souza has been cut. De Souza tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Peirce smiles and moves away.
Peirce bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. De Souza sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Peirce not landing any meaningful shots this time. It looks like Peirce is going to stand back up.
Peirce content to control rather than advance. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. De Souza tries to get to full guard but Peirce has control of the leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peirce tries to stand but his hand is stuck under De Souza. De Souza looking for submissions from an awkward position here. De Souza is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. De Souza is working hard here to advance position. De Souza is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Peirce's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Peirce's back! De Souza is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Peirce knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Peirce for a finish. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Peirce is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. De Souza has his arm under Peirce's chin here. Game over son! De Souza squeezes tightly and Peirce is forced to tap out!
