PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Carlsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Otter Odder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, David Carlsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Otter Odder!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Odder closes the distance and clinches up with Carlsson, looking for a takedown. Odder pushes Carlsson against the cage but Carlsson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Odder is looking to clinch but Carlsson is avoiding it.
Carlsson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Odder's waist but Odder gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carlsson off to one side.

Odder changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Carlsson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Carlsson regains half guard.
Odder really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carlsson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Odder not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Odder is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Carlsson tries to get to full guard but Odder has control of the leg.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carlsson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Odder is aware though and is defending well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Odder got a little sloppy there for a moment and Carlsson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Odder has managed to get both his arms back between Carlsson's legs - danger averted.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Otter Odder wasn't active enough on the ground.

Odder prevents a takedown attempt there.
Carlsson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Odder just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Carlsson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Odder fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Odder scores with a shot to the side of Carlsson's head.
Odder digs a right hand into Carlsson's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Carlsson's gas tank.

Odder tries to land a knee to the head but Carlsson blocks with his arms.
A nice right hand lands inside from Odder.
Carlsson tries to pull guard but Odder won't allow it.
Odder lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Carlsson.

Carlsson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Odder walks away with a smile on his face. Carlsson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Odder tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Carlsson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Odder feints and then cracks Carlsson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Carlsson down.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Odder wants to stand and escape but Carlsson is having none of it.
Odder tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that David Carlsson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Odder is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Carlsson is defending well for now.
Carlsson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Odder pulls his leg out and moves away.
Odder wants to clinch.

Carlsson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Odder gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Carlsson has his foot on Odder's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Odder works his way back into a safe position though.

Odder is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Carlsson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Carlsson is not content to let Odder control the position.
Carlsson wants to control but Odder is keeping busy.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carlsson is keen to just control but Odder is a slippery customer.
Carlsson is stalling here. Odder is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Carlsson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Odder has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Otter Odder showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Odder tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Carlsson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Odder pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Carlsson back to the cage. Odder follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Odder goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Odder lands a damaging elbow.
Odder stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Odder pulls guard successfully.

Carlsson stands and throws Odder's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Carlsson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Odder is just riding it out for now. Carlsson eventually gives up the hold.

Odder is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Odder is looking to stand up but Carlsson isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Carlsson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Odder swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Otter Odder comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Odder has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
