PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Igor Looser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darren Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Igor Looser!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Darren Jones!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Looser will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Looser misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Igor Looser seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Looser shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Looser's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Looser tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jones sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Looser somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Igor Looser. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Jones counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Looser is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jones showed some decent athleticism there.
Looser tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.

Jones decides to return to a standing position.
Looser could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Jones shoots in but Looser avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Looser shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jones tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Looser manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Looser leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Looser swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Jones counters with a nice uppercut.

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Jones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Jones looking to control but instead Looser has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Looser does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Looser is controlling Jones's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Jones is trying to control. Looser wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jones wants to get back to his feet.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Darren Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Looser.

Jones wants to stand but Looser has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.

Looser seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones for as long as he can get away with.

That's time! Looser's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Jones thows a huge punch but Looser dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones passes the guard and advances to mount!
Looser is wriggling around trying to escape.

Darren Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
