Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Evander Lopez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vinicius Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lopez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gracie shoots in and bounces Lopez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Gracie is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Lopez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Lopez keeps moving.
Gracie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Lopez is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gracie is controlling him.

Gracie gets to his feet - Lopez follows without any prompting.
Gracie shoots and misses
and Lopez counters with a left to the body.
Lopez throws a head kick that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Lopez tries to bum rush Gracie with a series of wild strikes but Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lopez. Gracie does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lopez as he avoids it easily.
Gracie closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lopez quickly recovers to half guard.
Gracie works his way into side control.
Gracie has an Americana. Lopez didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Gracie is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Gracie hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Vinicius Gracie!
