The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Emerson Jorge and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva fails with a takedown attempt.
Ruggiero fails with an attempt to clinch.

Ruggiero is looking to clinch but Silva is avoiding it.
Ruggiero doesn't manage to clinch there - Silva circles away.
Ruggiero defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Silva.
Ruggiero tries to work over Silva's front leg with a kick but Silva checks it.
Ruggiero gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Silva to score an easy takedown into full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ruggiero swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ruggiero is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Silva drops back looking for a leg! Ruggiero is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ruggiero manages to kick Silva off! Silva jumps back into Ruggiero's guard.

Silva is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Ruggiero looks calm but he's in trouble here. Silva gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Ruggiero is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Silva lets go of the hold and Ruggiero can pop his arm back in it's socket.
