Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fish Nak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Byrd! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nak shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Byrd's guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Byrd doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Nak advances position into side control! Byrd tries to buck Nak off but Nak is having none of it. Nak has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Byrd is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Nak yanks on the arm and Byrd is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Nak.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Fish Nak! Fish Nak seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
