PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Corwin Anstey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Archer Monroe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anstey's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, rocky road to dublin. Monroe is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Quicksand by The Story So Far. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monroe slips a jab and a cross from Anstey.
Anstey misses with a double jab.
A combination from Anstey does no damage. Anstey tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Anstey lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
It looks like Archer Monroe has been cut. Anstey throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Monroe's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Anstey dives in looking to finish as Monroe flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Anstey's strikes! Anstey is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Monroe's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Monroe was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Corwin Anstey! Corwin Anstey is the new middleweight champion! Corwin Anstey decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
