Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vitor Ramos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Urijah Faber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Urijah Faber!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Ramos. No joy for Faber on that attempt.

Faber clinches.

Ramos manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Ramos has his hands on Faber's head, controlling the position.

Ramos has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Faber can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Urijah Faber hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Faber is looking to clinch but Ramos is avoiding it.

Ramos tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ramos shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Faber sprawls well. Faber wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ramos gets slowly back to his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ramos is working for a kimura but Faber is defending it quite comfortably.

Faber is trying to maintain the position but Ramos is very close to passing his half guard.
Faber tries to get to full guard but Ramos has control of the leg.

Ramos stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Faber to get to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Faber changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ramos tries to avoid it but Faber manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ramos to the ground. Ramos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ramos fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Faber checks it well.
Faber pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Ramos bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ramos scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Faber to see if he's OK.
Faber is not content to let Ramos control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ramos tries to move to mount but Faber blocks the move with his legs.

Faber can't do much from the bottom here.
A lull in the action here as Ramos stalls from top position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
A control attempt from Faber but he's now mounted!
Ramos takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Faber is squirming around, avoiding Ramos's attempts to control the action.

Faber is looking to improve his position but Ramos isn't that keen on the idea.
The referee warns Faber that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Ramos prevents Faber from getting the reversal.
Faber is breathing heavily.
Ramos tries to control but Faber wriggling away.

Ramos looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Ramos postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Faber looks a forlorn figure.

Faber tries to lock up and control but Ramos gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Faber is trying desperately to improve position.
Faber is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Faber shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ramos shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Faber defends it nicely.

Faber tries to roll over but Ramos keeps him under control.
Ramos is trying to control the action in half guard but Faber is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Faber wants to improve his position but Ramos is controlling well.
Ramos is keen to just control but Faber is a slippery customer.
Faber takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ramos is pressing down on Faber's thigh, looking to free his foot. Faber is holding on for now.
Ramos is controlling the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Vitor Ramos.
Ramos throws a head kick that misses.
Ramos fails with an attempt to clinch.

Ramos shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ramos was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

You can see the frustration on Faber's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Vitor Ramos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Faber wants to get back to his feet.

Ramos stands up and beckons Faber to his feet.

Ramos moves into the clinch.

Ramos has Faber pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ramos pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Faber tumbling to the mat - Ramos dives into Faber's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Ramos seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Faber does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Vitor Ramos has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Faber shoots in looking for a takedown but Ramos manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Faber's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Well Ramos has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
