Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mason Franco! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Bran! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Franco tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Bran manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Franco gets in close and instigates a clinch. Franco breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Franco dives in and grabs Bran's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bran pushes down on Franco's head and hops out. Franco clinches with his opponent.
Franco jumps guard but Bran turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Franco is looking to take this one to the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mason Franco. That's going to take a lot out of him. Franco's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Franco misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Franco throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bran tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Franco is in Bran's guard. Bran keeping moving, preventing Franco from controlling successfully. Franco preventing the sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bran kicks Franco off and gets to his feet. Franco throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bran was covering up waiting for the punch and Franco finishes the takedown easily into guard. Bran wants to stand but Franco is controlling the position. Bran looking to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bran looking to control but Franco passes into half guard.
Franco missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Bran is looking to escape. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Franco is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bran tries to kick Franco off but Franco keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Franco controlling the pace.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Franco fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bran avoids it really well and circles away. Franco falls off balance throwing a combination
and Bran counters with a one-two to the body. Mason Franco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Franco tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bran swivels and escapes. Franco is breathing heavily. Bran stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bran wants it to stay on the feet. Franco fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Franco shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bran pinned against the cage. Bran gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Franco fails with the takedown and Bran counters with a series of strikes. Franco will be more careful next time no doubt. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Franco misses with a series of wild punches.
Franco shoots for a double leg takedown but Bran sprawls well. He's pushed Franco's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mason Franco will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Franco throws a predictable looking body shot
and Bran counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Bran avoids the head kick by Franco.
Bran leaves Franco with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Franco shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bran as he avoids it easily. Bran blocks a head kick by Franco.
Franco tries to clinch up. Franco shoots for a double leg takedown but Bran sprawls well. He's pushed Franco's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mason Franco. That's going to take a lot out of him. Franco with a lazy takedown attempt and Bran counters with a straight that turns Franco's legs to rubber! Bran pushes forward with more strikes and Franco goes down, battered and bloody! That's a wrap folks!
