Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between David Luiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Omar Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Luiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Omar Mendes! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Luiz fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mendes to the ground. Luiz is now in Mendes's guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Luiz throwing strikes but missing. Luiz working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Luiz lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Luiz throws a big elbow that misses. Luiz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Luiz with a flurry of punches that miss. That's one minute gone in the round. Luiz is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Luiz in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Luiz throwing strikes from guard but Mendes blocks nicely. Luiz looking to sit in guard and control but Mendes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Luiz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up because David Luiz just wasn't active enough. Luiz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
No joy there for Luiz, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Luiz crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Mendes - the referee stops the clock and Luiz gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Mendes. Luiz manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Mendes works over Luiz's head and body with a nice combination. Mendes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Mendes throws a series of punches but Luiz moves out of range. Mendes slips a straight right by Luiz. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Mendes!
Luiz throws a right and a left that both miss. Luiz steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mendes. Mendes takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mendes gets caught flat footed, as Luiz shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Luiz controlling from the top position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mendes can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Luiz wants to control from the top but Mendes keeps moving. Luiz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. David Luiz wasn't doing enough on the ground. Mendes's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Mendes duly obliges. Luiz lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. No luck for Luiz with that takedown attempt. Mendes misses with a wild combination.

Luiz throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mendes on the side of the head. Luiz takes the fight into the clinch. Luiz can't get the takedown.
Luiz is working for takedown but Mendes is calmly controlling the position for now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Luiz. That's going to take a lot out of him. That's five minutes gone in the round. Luiz wants to control from the top but Mendes keeps moving. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Luiz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Luiz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mendes swivels though and keeps the full guard. Mendes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Luiz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Luiz scoring with punches to the head and body. Mendes keeping moving, preventing Luiz from controlling successfully. Luiz stays in close to Mendes's body and controls the position. Luiz cracks Mendes with a solid left hand.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Luiz slips nicely into half guard. Luiz works his way into full mount! Luiz tries to control but Mendes wriggling away. Luiz landing strikes, looking to finish! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Luiz cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Mendes blocking the ground and pound. Luiz landing punches.
Mendes is rocked! Luiz tries to control but Mendes wriggling away. Mendes is still in real trouble! Can Luiz finish him? Mendes wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Luiz.
Mendes seems to have recovered his senses. Luiz throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. A nice elbow there by Luiz. Luiz postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mendes looks a forlorn figure.
Luiz putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
That's eight minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Luiz lands a big elbow - Mendes is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Mendes is forced to tap out!
