PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Milton Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Edwards comes to the cage accompanied by Feiticeira. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Milton Alves!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Steve Montenegro and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Edwards bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Edwards remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Alves gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Alves is trying desperately to improve position.

Edwards scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Alves?
Alves really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Edwards. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Edwards has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Alves's face.

Edwards has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Edwards seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Alves for as long as he can get away with.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Josh Edwards.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Josh Edwards.

Alves wants to break free but Edwards has control.
Alves jumps guard but Edwards stands there with Alves around his waist. Alves gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Edwards feints and as Alves raises his hands in defense, Edwards changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's time! Edwards's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Edwards closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Alves is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Edwards is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Alves can do to turn this around?

Edwards escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Alves is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Alves will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
