PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kunta Kinte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrei Bitar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kunta Kinte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrei Bitar!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Dmitry Maklakov and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bitar gets the takedown into side control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Bitar has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Kinte slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Kinte looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kinte tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bitar swivels and escapes.
Bitar bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kinte's head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bitar circles away from the clinch attempt
and Bitar counters with a body kick that stops Kinte in his tracks momentarily.

Bitar closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kinte quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kinte manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Kinte working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bitar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bitar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kinte throws a sloppy head kick and Bitar moves out of range easily.
Bitar keeps the fight on the outside.

Bitar finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Bitar shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bitar showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bitar frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Kinte tries to lock up and control but Bitar gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Bitar is landing with some decent strikes but Kinte is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Bitar tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Bitar's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bitar cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bitar is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kinte can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrei Bitar has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Bitar misses with a head kick.
Kinte dives in and grabs Bitar's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bitar pushes down on Kinte's head and hops out.

Bitar decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kinte, up you get!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Andrei Bitar hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Kinte fails to land the takedown.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kinte shoots for a double leg takedown but Bitar sprawls well. He's pushed Kinte's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Andrei Bitar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Kinte is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bitar defends well.
Bitar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bitar is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Bitar looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Kinte is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bitar pulls his head out easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kinte has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bitar is working away from the top position though.
Bitar passes into side control, despite Kinte's attempt to control the position.

Bitar stands up.
Kunta Kinte has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Andrei Bitar is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Andrei Bitar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bitar has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
