Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jay East! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kipa Uskoo! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! East shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Uskoo as he avoids it easily. Uskoo moves in looking to clinch but East pushes him off. East shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Uskoo as he jumps to the side. The fight stays on the outside here - Uskoo looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Uskoo is trying hard to land a takedown here. East sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Uskoo tries to clinch but East is having none of it. East stuffs the takedown attempt from Uskoo. Uskoo gets slowly back to his feet. Uskoo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
East fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay East. That's going to take a lot out of him. East shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Uskoo as he jumps to the side. Uskoo looks to clinch and East counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Uskoo tries to roll over but East keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. East takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Uskoo is trying is best to control the position here. East slows the pace down in half guard. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Uskoo has eaten all the pies! East prevents Uskoo from improving his position. East will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Uskoo wants to control but East is keeping busy.
We're going to have a standup here because Jay East wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. East doesn't manage to clinch there - Uskoo circles away.
East misses with a takedown attempt - Uskoo sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. East throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Uskoo's waist but Uskoo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing East off to one side. Uskoo is looking to clinch. Uskoo defends well against a solid takedown attempt from East. Uskoo shoots in but no luck this time. East swings away with a leg kick that misses. A momentary lapse in concentration from Uskoo enables East to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Uskoo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. East is breathing heavily. Uskoo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. East gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Uskoo trying to keep a closed guard but East is proving a slippery customer.
East is looking to work some ground and pound but Uskoo has wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jay East. East stuffs the takedown attempt from Uskoo. Uskoo gets slowly back to his feet. East shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Uskoo defends it nicely. Uskoo thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on East if he has to take too many more of those.
Uskoo has his takedown stuffed and East counters with a lovely shot to the body. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Uskoo manages to get an easy takedown there - catching East on his heels. He'll look to pass East's guard now, I'm sure. East working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Uskoo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but East is tightening it up a little... Uskoo has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Uskoo reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Uskoo taps out! Nice BJJ there by East!
