Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
28 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Luis Montoya Rivera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Reese! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jonathan Paton and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Decent striking displayed by Montoya Rivera there. Reese connects with an inside leg kick. Reese throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Reese tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Montoya Rivera misses with a straight left. No luck with that takedown attempt from Reese. Reese misses the shot to the body. Montoya Rivera is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Reese's half guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Montoya Rivera seems to be looking for submissions.

Montoya Rivera is keen to just control but Reese is a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Montoya Rivera controlling the action here. Great action here. Reese is trying to get back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Montoya Rivera looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Montoya Rivera misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Reese tries to bench press Montoya Rivera off him but Montoya Rivera keeps the position. Montoya Rivera wants to control but Reese is keeping him busy. Reese is trying to improve his position. Montoya Rivera wants to lay and pray for a moment but Reese keeps working. Reese tries to strike from the bottom but misses. Reese is looking to regain half guard here but Montoya Rivera keeps moving and retains side control. Reese is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Montoya Rivera off and has taken his back!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Reese misses with an elbow to the head. Reese punches the canvas rather than the man. Reese scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Montoya Rivera is looking for a way out. Montoya Rivera is trying to escape under a series of strikes and manages to escape from Reese 's hooks. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Montoya Rivera bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Montoya Rivera is pushing down on Reese's leg trying to pass to half guard. Reese is fighting to maintain full guard but Montoya Rivera has managed to sneak the leg through. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jose Luis Montoya Rivera will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Reese fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Montoya Rivera manages to avoid it. Jose Luis Montoya Rivera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Montoya Rivera looks to throw the jab but Reese is out of range. Montoya Rivera looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Reese is fending him off so far but Montoya Rivera persists. Nope, Reese circles away and we're back to standing. Reese throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Montoya Rivera sees it coming and avoids it easily. Reese shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Montoya Rivera pinned against the cage. Montoya Rivera gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Montoya Rivera lands a nice shot that snaps Reese's head back.
Montoya Rivera jabbing away but nothing is landing. Reese tried to score with a low kick but Montoya Rivera checks it. Reese connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Montoya Rivera lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Reese tries to score a power double leg takedown but Montoya Rivera sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Reese somewhat. Montoya Rivera rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Reese counters with a straight right hand. Reese finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Montoya Rivera checks a low kick from Reese. Reese fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Montoya Rivera avoids it really well and circles away. Jose Luis Montoya Rivera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle Reese. Reese misses with a body punch
and Montoya Rivera counters with a nice low kick that buckles Reese's knee momentarily. Montoya Rivera shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Montoya Rivera showed some decent athleticism there. Reese is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Montoya Rivera tries to pass the half guard into mount. Reese knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Reese is trying to get back to full guard. Montoya Rivera is trying to control the action in half guard but Reese is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Montoya Rivera tries to pass to full mount but Reese defends it. Reese tries to roll over but Montoya Rivera keeps him under control. Reese missing with punches from the bottom.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Montoya Rivera cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Montoya Rivera wants to finish this one by submission but Reese is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Montoya Rivera.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reese is in a horrible position here. Montoya Rivera smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Reese bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Reese must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Montoya Rivera looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Reese has picked Montoya Rivera up and slammed him! Montoya Rivera can't keep hold of the triangle and Reese manages to pass to side control! An elbow from Reese crashes against the mat.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Reese landing strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Reese tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Reese has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Reese lands some shots froms side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jose Luis Montoya Rivera dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Reese connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Montoya Rivera doesn't manage to clinch there - Reese circles away.
Reese throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Montoya Rivera throws a leg kick which misses Reese's front leg but catches the back leg as Reese tries to avoid it. Reese moves in looking to clinch but Montoya Rivera pushes him off. Reese bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. A looping hook to the body misses from Reese. Montoya Rivera does a little dance to reset his feet. Reese stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Montoya Rivera. Reese throws a sloppy head kick and Montoya Rivera moves out of range easily. Montoya Rivera manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Reese on his heels. He'll look to pass Reese's guard now, I'm sure. Montoya Rivera seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Montoya Rivera stands and throws Reese's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reese misses with an elbow from the bottom. Montoya Rivera tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Montoya Rivera has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Montoya Rivera thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Montoya Rivera is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Reese is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Montoya Rivera is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Reese knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Montoya Rivera taking a break here but Reese is having none of it and regains half guard. Reese works his way to full guard. Good work. Reese keeping moving, preventing Montoya Rivera from controlling successfully. Reese throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Reese looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Montoya Rivera passes the guard and advances to mount! Montoya Rivera moves to the back position. Montoya Rivera doesn't have the hooks in and Reese manages to turn into his guard.
Reese is working Montoya Rivera over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Montoya Rivera is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Reese rolls with it to try and escape but Montoya Rivera cranks on the arm and Reese is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
