PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dave Carpio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samurai Jack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carpio comes into the arena with Derezzed blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 16 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dave Carpio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Samurai Jack!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Bruno Lombardi and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jack turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
No luck for Carpio with that takedown attempt.
Jack blocks a jab.
Jack fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Carpio on the side of the head.
Jack lands with a kick to the temple. Carpio shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Jack lands with a thumping leg kick.
Carpio throws a leg kick but Jack moved away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jack. Carpio does a little dance to reset his feet.
Carpio closes the distance but Jack moves to the side
and Jack makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Jack throws a head kick but Carpio moves out of range.
Jack tries to land a front kick but Carpio steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Jack lands a jab to the head.
Carpio throws a leg kick
and Jack counters with a straight right hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carpio takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Jack checks a leg kick nicely.
Carpio tried to score with a low kick but Jack checks it.
A nice inside leg kick there by Jack. That's going to slow Carpio down.
Jack keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Jack tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Carpio was well out of range. Poor timing from Jack.
Jack scores with a sloppy right hand. Carpio should have avoided that one.
Carpio thows a left - swing and a miss!

Carpio tries to clinch but Jack moves out of range.
Carpio on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Jack slips a jab from Carpio.
Jack connects with a leg kick. Carpio looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
That kick from Jack tenderised Carpio's leg. Carpio is trying to keep his angry face on.
Jack scores with a nice body kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jack throws a series of punches but Carpio moves out of range.
Jack lands a leg kick that knocks Carpio off balance momentarily.
Carpio takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Dave Carpio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jack takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

A bone on bone clash there as Jack blocks the leg kick.
Carpio throws the left hand but Jack avoids the punch easily.
Jack scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Nice uppercut there from Jack.
Jack keeps the fight on the outside.
Jack keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Carpio throws a lazy body kick
and Jack counters with a nice body shot.
A jab lands there for Jack.
Jack bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Carpio's head backwards.
Carpio is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Jack lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Carpio backs up against the cage.
Jack keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Carpio lands a glancing blow to the side of Jack's head.
Carpio is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jack.
Carpio throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jack's waist but Jack gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carpio off to one side.

Carpio throws a leg kick which misses Jack's front leg but catches the back leg as Jack tries to avoid it.
Carpio feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Jack's calf.
Samurai Jack is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Carpio dives in and grabs Jack's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jack pushes down on Carpio's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Carpio. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A jab lands there for Jack.
Carpio chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Jack can pounce on him.
Carpio is breathing heavily.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Jack, as that shot connected.
A nice inside leg kick there by Carpio. That's going to slow Jack down.
Jack walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Jack lands with a right hand.
Carpio throws a front kick aimed at Jack's knee but Jack avoids it well.
Good standup being displayed there by Carpio as he connects with a hook.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carpio throws a leg kick
and Jack counters with a nice leg kick.
Jack throws a quick inside leg kick.
Jack moves out of range of the leg kick from Carpio.
Jack pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Carpio back to the cage. Jack follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Carpio takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Carpio throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jack lunges at Carpio with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Carpio's hand.
Jack misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Jack, right into the meat.
A swing and a miss from Carpio.
Carpio fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Jack scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Jack throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jack dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Jack scores with a head kick. Carpio tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Jack misses with a wild combination.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Carpio. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Jack defending well as Carpio loads up on a big left hand.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jack scores with a sloppy right hand. Carpio should have avoided that one.
Jack connects with a high kick.
Jack fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Carpio on the side of the head.


Carpio is rocked!
Carpio takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samurai Jack dominated that round.
That's time! Carpio's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Jack cracks Carpio with a right hand to the side of the head.
Jack scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Jack connects with a solid leg kick.
Jack throws a low kick, looking for Carpio's leg but Carpio calmly moves out of range.
Jack throws a series of strikes that have Carpio backpedaling.
Oh Carpio is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Carpio misses with a body kick.
Carpio seems to have got his legs back now.
Jack comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Carpio is looking to land body kicks.
Jack throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jack avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Carpio shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jack defends it nicely.
Jack checks a low kick from Carpio.
Jack fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Jack checks a leg kick.
Jack throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Carpio stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Carpio motions for Jack to come forward. Carpio throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Jack throws a right hand that Carpio ducks under and follows up with a left that Carpio also avoids with ease.
Samurai Jack seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Carpio.
Carpio fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Carpio takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Carpio shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jack pinned against the cage. Jack gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dave Carpio. That's going to take a lot out of him.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carpio wants to clinch.
Carpio gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Jack.
Jack cracks Carpio with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Nice sprawl there from Jack as Carpio shoots in.
Carpio on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Carpio thows a leg kick but Jack checks it
and Jack counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
A chopping leg kick lands by Jack.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Carpio might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
Carpio misses with a looping right.
Jack connects with a high kick.
Jack cracks Carpio on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Carpio falls backwards against the cage. Jack follows up with more strikes that drop Carpio to his knees. Jack keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Carpio! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Samurai Jack!
A relieved looking Samurai Jack thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
