PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Long (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Clinton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for John Long has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Long!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bill Clinton!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Clinton does no damage.
Long changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Clinton tries to avoid it but Long manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Clinton to the ground. Clinton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Long scores with a one two! Clinton had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Long misses with a two punch combination.
Clinton blocks a head kick by Long.

Clinton has Long up against the cage in a clinch.
Clinton taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Clinton's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Clinton changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Long fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Long throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Long looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Clinton!
Clinton is in all sorts of trouble here.
Clinton tries to lock up and control but Long gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Clinton is desperately trying to improve his position but Long has a good base and remains in mount.

Long is working for a guillotine from mount but Clinton frees his head quite easily.

Clinton keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Long swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Clinton is now in Long's guard. A big mistake from Long there, giving up the dominant position!
Clinton wants to control from the top but Long keeps moving.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Long looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Long looking to hit a scissor sweep but Clinton is one step ahead there.
Long being controlled here, momentarily.
Clinton wants to pass the guard but Long is keeping the position.
Clinton looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Clinton pushes down on Long's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Long trying to control from the bottom.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Clinton in particular looking to stall.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Long bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Long drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Clinton dives on top into guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Long tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Clinton is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clinton wants to control the pace but Long is squirming around nicely.
Clinton sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Long tries to roll over but Clinton keeps him under control.
Long wants to control but Clinton is keeping busy.

Long has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Clinton is working away from the top position though.

Bill Clinton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

and Long counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Long.
Clinton wants a takedown but no success here.
Long is working for takedown but Clinton is calmly controlling the position for now.
Clinton has Long pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Long manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
John Long has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bill Clinton.

Long has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Clinton avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Clinton turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Clinton manages to end up in side control.

Clinton throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Long drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Clinton dives on top into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Long striking off his back but it's not causing Clinton any problems.

Clinton gets to his feet. Long looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
John Long is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Clinton thows a body shot but no joy.
Long misses with a takedown

and Clinton counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Long blocks an elbow strike from Clinton.
Long has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Clinton is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Long is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Clinton is keeping busy.
Long can't break the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Clinton takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Clinton tries to stall but Long uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Long goes for a takedown attempt but Clinton pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A slapping leg kick lands for Long.

John Long has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Clinton throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Long counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Clinton is trying to hold Long in close to prevent damage but Long has managed to pass into half guard.
Clinton is looking for a sweep. Long is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Long looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

John Long showed his dominance in that final round.
