The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holmes leaves Ziomek with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ziomek misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Ziomek doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Holmes counters with a shoot takedown. Ziomek fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Muniek Ziomek. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ziomek wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Ziomek looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ziomek looking to hit a scissor sweep but Holmes is one step ahead there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Holmes trying to control but Ziomek is working from the bottom.
Holmes tries to free his leg and advance position but Ziomek is retaining full guard.
Holmes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ziomek. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Holmes is posturing up here but Ziomek has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Holmes tries to roll out but it's too tight and Holmes has to tap! Slick submission there by Ziomek!
