Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Rivers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Dunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Dunn struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 187.1lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aaron Rivers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Dunn! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rivers tries to clinch but fails miserably and Dunn counters with a left and a right that stings Rivers. Dunn fails to land with a series of punches.
Dunn scores with a jab to the body. Dunn throws a jab but it's blocked by Rivers. Dunn looks to land a left hand but Rivers moved out of range nicely. Dunn lands a slapping body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A looping hook to the body misses from Rivers. Dunn does a little dance to reset his feet. Dunn swinging wildly here.
Rivers looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dunn is fending him off so far but Rivers persists. Nope, Dunn circles away and we're back to standing. Dunn stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rivers. Dunn looks to land a combination but Rivers avoids it well. A looping hook to the body misses from Dunn. Rivers does a little dance to reset his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dunn stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Rivers wants to clinch. Dunn lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Dunn moves in looking to clinch but Rivers pushes him off. Rivers shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Rivers is looking for a kimura here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Rivers is looking to advance position but Dunn won't allow it. Rivers seems to be working for a kimura but Dunn defends the submission attempt. Rivers wants to pass to mount but Dunn is defending the position. Dunn has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rivers is working away from the top position though. Rivers is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dunn has managed to free his arm - good work. Rivers controlling the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rivers is looking for a kimura here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rivers is looking for a kimura but Dunn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rivers to get the leverage. Rivers seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Rivers wants to take a breather but Dunn is having none of it. Rivers is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Rivers is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Rivers wants to stand up but Dunn has a hold of him and won't allow it. Rivers tries to pass to full mount but Dunn defends it. Rivers passes to side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rivers is trying to get an arm triangle but Dunn is defending well. Dunn is looking for a sweep. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Rivers thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Aaron Rivers dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Rivers gets a clinch. Dunn lands with a right to the head. Dunn prevents Rivers from breaking the clinch. Rivers breaks from the clinch.
Rivers closes the distance and clinches up with Dunn, looking for a takedown. Rivers pushes Dunn against the cage but Dunn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Rivers is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Dunn. Dunn moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Dunn misses with a double jab
and Rivers counters with a thumping low kick. Rivers dives in and grabs Dunn's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dunn pushes down on Rivers's head and hops out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rivers avoids a punch combination nicely.
Dunn scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Jab by Dunn. Aaron Rivers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rivers gets the takedown into side control. Rivers tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rivers has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dunn can do anything to dispel that myth. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rivers is trying to get an arm triangle but Dunn is defending well. Dunn on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Dunn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rivers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Rivers hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
