PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Muay Thai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thai comes to the cage accompanied by Deadly Muay Thai Skills. The crowd seem to be enjoying Rasputin's choice of entrance music: TURISAS - Rasputin. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Muay Thai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Rasputin checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Thai has managed to clinch.
Thai lands an elbow that stopped Rasputin in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin has been cut.
Rasputin tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Rasputin has Thai pressed against the cage.

Rasputin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Thai is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Rasputin wants to control from the top but Thai keeps moving.

and Rasputin counters with a three punch combo that has Thai backing up. Thai nods at Rasputin to acknowledge the strikes.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Thai tries to close the distance and clinch but Rasputin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Rasputin on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Thai is trying to push Rasputin away but Rasputin has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Rasputin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Rasputin makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Thai is breathing heavily.

Thai moves to clinch but Rasputin breaks away
and Rasputin counters with an inside leg kick.
Rasputin tries to clinch up but Thai circles away and keeps his distance.
Sloppy strikes from Rasputin. Those never looked like landing.

Thai showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rasputin.
Rasputin swats away the attempt to clinch by Thai.

Rasputin pushes Thai up against the cage in a clinch.
Thai is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rasputin is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Thai pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Rasputin is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Thai is defending well.
Muay Thai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin.
Rasputin blocks the elbow strike.
Rasputin jumps guard but Thai stands there with Rasputin around his waist. Rasputin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Rasputin is trying to drag Thai to the mat but Thai just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rasputin lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Rasputin creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Muay Thai showed his dominance in that final round.
