Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between DJ Smile (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Gable (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, DJ Smile!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Don Gable!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Smile misses with an uppercut

and Gable counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Smile's guard now.
Smile will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gable's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Smile looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Gable is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Gable with a flurry of punches that miss.
Smile is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Gable controlling from the top position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Don Gable hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Smile shoots in and drives through. Gable sprawls well.
A punch combination from Smile misses.
Smile looks to land a combination but Gable avoids it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smile throws a lazy right hand but Gable sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Gable blocks a jab.
No joy there for Smile, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Smile gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Gable tries to work over Smile's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Gable works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smile wants to sweep but no luck.
Smile can't keep his opponent in guard - Gable advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gable stalling.
Gable tries to pass to full mount but Smile defends it.
Smile has hold of Gable's hands but Gable slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gable drops an elbow to the side of Smile's head.
Gable lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Smile is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Gable scores with a couple of nice shots.
Gable thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Smile's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gable wants to pass the guard but Smile is defending well.
Gable passes to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Don Gable dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Smile looks to land a right hand but Gable moved out of range.
Smile throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gable sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Smile looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Smile lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Smile shoots in looking for a takedown. Gable tries to sprawl out of it but Smile keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gable manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gable walks into a jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gable keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Smile.
Gable moves away from the strike by Smile.
Smile jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
A big right from Smile misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gable moves away from the strike by Smile.
Smile shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gable pinned against the cage. Gable gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Smile throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
DJ Smile seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smile throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Gable holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gable lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Smile backwards.
Gable's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Gable has clasped his hands together around Smile's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
You can see the frustration on Smile's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Smile takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Gable fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Gable trying to control the position but Smile is working away.
Smile tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Gable easily slips into full mount!

Gable landing strikes from the mount.

Gable is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Smile has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Smile!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gable pulls Smile in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Don Gable showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Smile's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


No luck with that takedown attempt from Smile.
Smile shoots for a takedown but Gable saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smile misses with a wild combination.

Smile rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Gable counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Smile!
Gable creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Gable working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Gable in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Don Gable is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Gable slows the pace down.
Gable tries to advance to mount but can't.
Gable moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Don Gable was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Gable blocks a jab.
DJ Smile has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Gable avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Smile throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Gable counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Smile's guard now.
Gable really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smile. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gable controls from within his opponent's guard.
Smile tries to land a sweep but no joy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Don Gable comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Gable winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
