Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Farid Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugh Kanawakkamaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kanawakkamaki's choice of entrance music: She Swallowed It. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Farid Mir! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hugh Kanawakkamaki! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kanawakkamaki tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mir paws at him with a jab and circles away. Mir shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mir was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Kanawakkamaki managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Mir.
Kanawakkamaki sneaks back into half guard. Mir has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kanawakkamaki regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Mir. Mir wants to control from the top but Kanawakkamaki keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kanawakkamaki being controlled here, momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir is looking to stand up but Kanawakkamaki won't let him. Mir with a flurry of punches that miss. Mir would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Mir preventing the sweep.
We're going to have a standup here because Farid Mir wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Kanawakkamaki throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mir tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kanawakkamaki is in Mir's guard. Kanawakkamaki must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mir is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Kanawakkamaki throws a strike but Mir rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Kanawakkamaki working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mir. Mir is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Kanawakkamaki is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mir trying to control the position from guard on top but Kanawakkamaki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Kanawakkamaki bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Kanawakkamaki postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kanawakkamaki taking a breather here. Mir is trying to improve his position. You can see the frustration on Mir's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Kanawakkamaki is staying tight to Mir's torso, preventing him from escaping. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mir tries to escape but Kanawakkamaki is in control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Farid Mir will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Mir takes a body punch but keeps moving. Kanawakkamaki avoids the head kick by Mir.
Kanawakkamaki misses with a hook. Mir ducked under it nicely. Mir is looking to clinch but Kanawakkamaki is avoiding it.
Mir misses with a takedown attempt and Kanawakkamaki counters by clinching up. Kanawakkamaki drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mir gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mir's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Mir could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Mir breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mir tries to land a leg kick but Kanawakkamaki saw it coming and moves away.
Mir defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kanawakkamaki. Kanawakkamaki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mir's waist but Mir gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kanawakkamaki off to one side. Farid Mir has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hugh Kanawakkamaki. Kanawakkamaki leaves Mir with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Kanawakkamaki fails with the takedown. Kanawakkamaki rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mir moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A looping hook to the body misses from Mir. Kanawakkamaki does a little dance to reset his feet. Kanawakkamaki fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mir looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Mir leaves Kanawakkamaki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mir tries to land a front kick but Kanawakkamaki steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Kanawakkamaki looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Mir wants to control the action here but instead Kanawakkamaki manages to pass to full mount! Mir wants to hold on but Kanawakkamaki pushes him away. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kanawakkamaki sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kanawakkamaki lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Mir hang on? Kanawakkamaki trying to control but Mir is having none of it. Kanawakkamaki lands a heavy elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kanawakkamaki prevents Mir from getting the reversal. Hugh Kanawakkamaki has got the better of the ground game so far. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kanawakkamaki can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mir is looking to escape. Kanawakkamaki lands a big elbow. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mir tries to hold on but Kanawakkamaki postures up. Kanawakkamaki pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hugh Kanawakkamaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Mir pushes Kanawakkamaki up against the cage in a clinch. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Mir missing with knees to the body.

Mir escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kanawakkamaki gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Kanawakkamaki tries to free his leg and advance position but Mir is retaining full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Hugh Kanawakkamaki wasn't active enough on the ground. Mir fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Kanawakkamaki closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mir quickly recovers to half guard. Kanawakkamaki content to control rather than advance. Mir is pressing down on Kanawakkamaki's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Kanawakkamaki looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mir wants to control the position but Kanawakkamaki says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Kanawakkamaki missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Kanawakkamaki throwing shots but Mir is blocking nicely. Kanawakkamaki keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kanawakkamaki seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mir does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kanawakkamaki connects with a nice short shot to Mir's temple.
And that's the end of the fight! Hugh Kanawakkamaki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Kanawakkamaki has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
