Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Thornton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matheus Dias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Aaron Thornton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Matheus Dias!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thornton moves in looking to clinch but Dias pushes him off.
Dias swings for the body but Thornton moves out of range.

Dias rushes Thornton and presses him up against the cage.

Dias breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Thornton closes the distance looking to clinch
and Dias counters with a leg kick.
A lazy left from Thornton finds it's target.
Thornton throws a head kick but Dias moves out of range.
Thornton tries to move into range but Dias moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Dias gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Thornton working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Thornton scoring with punches to the head and body.
Dias is controlling Thornton's posture.

Dias is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Thornton preventing the sweep.
Dias is looking to stand back up but Thornton counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Dias.
Dias moves into full guard.
Dias tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Thornton trying to control the position from guard on top but Dias is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Thornton trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Dias looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Thornton passes into half guard.
Dias is not content to let Thornton control the position.
Dias is looking for a sweep. Thornton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Dias is trying to control but can't.
Dias blocking the ground and pound attempt from Thornton.
Dias is not content to let Thornton control the position.

Thornton wants to pass to mount but Dias is defending the position.
Thornton thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Thornton trying to control the action but Dias is working from the bottom.
Thornton stalling away here and it's allowed Dias to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Dias is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Thornton got a little sloppy there for a moment and Dias has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thornton has managed to get both his arms back between Dias's legs - danger averted.
Thornton wants to control from the top but Dias keeps moving.
Thornton not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Dias working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Thornton has passed into half guard!
Well, if Thornton is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dias is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Aaron Thornton will probably get the nod.

Thornton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dias swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Thornton avoids the head kick by Dias.
Thornton stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Thornton wants it to stay on the feet.

Dias tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Dias swats away the attempt to clinch by Thornton.
Dias throws a sloppy head kick and Thornton moves out of range easily.
Thornton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dias swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dias looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Aaron Thornton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matheus Dias.

Dias keeps the fight on the outside.
Thornton throws a right and a left that Dias avoids nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Thornton.
Dias fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Thornton avoids it really well and circles away.
Dias is breathing heavily.
Thornton shoots in looking for a takedown. Dias tries to sprawl out of it but Thornton keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dias manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Aaron Thornton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Thornton darts in and clinches Dias up against the cage.
Dias lands an elbow inside that Thornton shrugs off.

Thornton wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Dias pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Thornton wants to get back to striking at distance but Dias won't allow it.

Thornton breaks from the clinch.
Thornton looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Thornton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Thornton stuffs the takedown attempt from Dias. Dias gets slowly back to his feet.
Thornton dives in and grabs Dias's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dias pushes down on Thornton's head and hops out.

Dias throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Dias clinches up against the cage.
Dias manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Dias breaks the clinch.
Thornton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Dias closes the distance and pushes Thornton back into the cage.
Dias wants a takedown.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Thornton escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dias throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Thornton's head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dias has a takedown stuffed.
Sloppy strikes from Dias. Those never looked like landing.
Thornton is looking to clinch but Dias is avoiding it.
Thornton stuffs the takedown attempt from Dias. Dias gets slowly back to his feet.
Thornton throws a head kick but Dias moves out of range.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Thornton shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Thornton was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Dias gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Matheus Dias will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Matheus Dias seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Thornton tries to close the distance and clinch but Dias swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Thornton is defended easily by Dias.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aaron Thornton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Thornton misses with a takedown attempt - Dias sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dias is defended easily by Thornton.
Thornton chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Dias can pounce on him.
Thornton swats away the attempt to clinch by Dias.
A nice leg kick lands there from Dias.
Dias lands with a shot to the body.
Dias throws a head kick that half lands.


It looks like Aaron Thornton has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dias tries to sprawl but Thornton drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Thornton is looking to take a break and control but Dias is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Dias gets back to full guard.
Thornton prevents Dias from getting back to his feet.

Dias looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Thornton tries to free his leg and advance position but Dias is retaining full guard.
Dias controls Thornton momentarily but Thornton frees himself.
Thornton wants to stand but Dias is controlling his posture from full guard.
Dias throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Thornton trying to control the position from guard on top but Dias is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Aaron Thornton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Thornton tries to free his leg and advance position but Dias is retaining full guard.
Dias is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Dias closes the distance and clinches.
Thornton is trying to break the clinch but Dias has him pressed against the cage.

Dias manages to break the clinch.
Thornton displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Thornton throws a sloppy head kick
and Dias counters with a low kick, right behind Thornton 's knee.

Dias pushes Thornton up against the cage in a clinch.

Dias manages to break the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Matheus Dias comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Dias has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
