Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jacob Hynes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jones Morris! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hynes shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Morris as he avoids it easily. Hynes tries to clinch up but Morris circles away and keeps his distance. Hynes shoots for a takedown but Morris saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Hynes looks to land a combination but Morris avoids it well. No luck for Hynes with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacob Hynes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hynes shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Hynes fails with the takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hynes is looking to chop away at Morris's legs. Hynes shoots in but no luck this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hynes tries to close the distance and clinch but Morris swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Horrible takedown by Hynes or perhaps it was just good defense by Morris which made him look bad. Hynes shoots for a takedown but Morris saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Hynes misses with a body kick. Hynes looks for a takedown but Morris sprawls well. Morris stuffs the takedown attempt from Hynes. Hynes gets slowly back to his feet. Hynes is breathing heavily. Hynes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Morris avoids a kick to the body.
Hynes shoots in for a double leg but Morris sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Morris pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jacob Hynes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hynes tries to clinch up. Hynes fails to land the takedown. Morris fails with the takedown. Morris scores with a spinning back kick! The fight stays on the outside here - Morris looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hynes circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hynes throws a looping overhand right but Morris ducks down to avoid it. Danga de danga de dang - Hynes scores with a four punch combination! Hynes throws a sloppy head kick and Morris counters by moving into the clinch. Morris with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Morris breaks from the clinch.
Hynes wants to clinch but Morris slips to the side and Morris counters with a body kick. Morris moves into range and clinches up with Hynes. Morris breaks the clinch.
Hynes misses with a takedown and Morris counters with a nice low kick that buckles Hynes's knee momentarily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Morris shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hynes's guard. Morris passes easily into side control. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Morris tries for a kimura but Hynes is defending well. Morris wants to control but Hynes is keeping him busy. Morris wants to stand but Hynes is controlling his arm. Hynes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Morris wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Hynes is working hard here to advance position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jones Morris dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Hynes scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Hynes scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Hynes with the ground and pound but Morris uses the opportunity to regain guard. Morris looking for a guillotine here but Hynes defends easily.
Morris lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Hynes! Hynes is looking to get to half guard. Morris is breathing heavily. Morris mounts Hynes! Really nice guard pass there!
That's one minute gone in the round. Hynes is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Morris manages to capitalize on a mistake by Hynes to take his back! Morris is not going to allow Hynes to sit and survive in this position. Hynes is keeping busy.
Hynes is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Hynes wants to escape the position.
