Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Dunne! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bad Religion! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dunne rushes Religion and presses him up against the cage. Dunne breaks from the clinch.
A nice inside leg kick there by Dunne. That's going to slow Religion down. Religion takes the fight into the clinch. Religion tries for a takedown but Dunne manages to get underhooks.
Religion wants to break free but Dunne has control.
Dunne throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Dunne gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Religion changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dunne fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Religion clinches with his opponent.
Religion has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Dunne unloads a knee to the mid-section. Religion lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Dunne prevents the takedown attempt.
Jay Dunne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bad Religion. Dunne creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Religion's defenses. Dunne connects with a nasty looking knee right to Religion's face.
Religion looks winded!
That's one minute gone in the round. Religion tries to break free but Dunne pushes him back against the cage. Religion tries for a takedown but Dunne manages to get underhooks.
Religion is trying to drag Dunne to the mat but Dunne just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Dunne breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Dunne moves into range and clinches up with Religion. Dunne is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Religion wants a takedown but no success here.
Dunne comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Dunne's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Dunne clinches up against the cage. Dunne with a knee to the head.
Dunne escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dunne closes the distance and clinches. This has been an exciting period of action! Dunne breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Dunne cracks Religion with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Religion is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Religion fails with a takedown attempt. Religion is still on wobbly legs! Can Dunne finish him? Dunne darts in and clinches Religion up against the cage. Dunne lands with a short shot to the head. Dunne landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Dunne pulls back and lands a big elbow that stuns Religion! Dunne unloads with more strikes and Religion sinks to his knees! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jay Dunne!
