PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicholas J Mcgarry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nicholas J Mcgarry is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Nicholas J Mcgarry!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcgarry fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lewis sprawls well initially but Mcgarry persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Mcgarry wants to control but Lewis is keeping him busy.
Lewis is trying to stand back up but Mcgarry is controlling him

Mcgarry is trying to work for a kimura but Lewis is defending well.

Mcgarry is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lewis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mcgarry.

Lewis pushes Mcgarry off looking to stand but Mcgarry dives back in and keeps control.

Lewis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mcgarry swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mcgarry is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mcgarry seems to be looking for submissions.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lewis wants to get back to full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mcgarry can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lewis is looking to escape.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fight stays on the outside here - Lewis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lewis shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mcgarry sprawls well. Mcgarry wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lewis gets slowly back to his feet.
Lewis fails with an attempt to clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mcgarry is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Lewis looks calm but he's in trouble here. Mcgarry gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Lewis is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Mcgarry lets go of the hold and Lewis can pop his arm back in it's socket.
