Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alvin Joiner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Russell Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joiner comes to the cage accompanied by Whats the Difference. Jacobs has chosen Till I Collapse as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Russell Jacobs!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jacobs shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Joiner is looking to sweep but instead, Jacobs has passed into half guard.
Jacobs seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Joiner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jacobs is stalling here. Joiner is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Jacobs seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Joiner has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jacobs manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Joiner throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jacobs was covering up waiting for the punch and Joiner finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Joiner working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Joiner keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jacobs's head.

Joiner got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jacobs has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Joiner has managed to get both his arms back between Jacobs's legs - danger averted.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jacobs is on top in guard.

Joiner manages to escape and get back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Joiner drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jacobs pulls his leg out and moves away.

Jacobs throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.


It looks like Alvin Joiner has been cut.

Joiner shoots in for a takedown but Jacobs shows good takedown defense.
Joiner fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jacobs avoids it really well and circles away.
Joiner tries to clinch up but Jacobs circles away and keeps his distance.
Jacobs throws a leg kick which misses Joiner's front leg but catches the back leg as Joiner tries to avoid it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jacobs lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Jacobs has a takedown stuffed.
A solid leg kick lands there for Jacobs.

Jacobs bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Jacobs is chipping away with strikes.
Jacobs working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Joiner is rocked!
Jacobs lands a strong strike to the head of Joiner. That's dazed him! Jacobs looking to finish here. Joiner is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Jacobs lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Russell Jacobs!
After the fight, Russell Jacobs was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
