Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Red Wolf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ground Guru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wolf's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Shawnee Sioux War Dance. Guru has chosen Linkin Park - Burning In The Skies as his entrance music. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Red Wolf! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ground Guru! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Sergei Dronov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wolf lands a nice looking body shot.
Wolf scores with a push kick. A decent looking cross lands there for Wolf. No luck with that takedown attempt from Guru. Wolf thows a body shot but no joy. Guru avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Guru takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Wolf stuffs the takedown attempt from Guru. Guru gets slowly back to his feet. Wolf keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Red Wolf has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ground Guru. Wolf throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wolf misses with a straight left. Guru closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Wolf's guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Wolf keeping full guard, as Guru tries to pass. Guru wants to control from the top but Wolf keeps moving. Wolf knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Guru on the ground. Guru throwing strikes from guard but Wolf blocks nicely. Guru missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Guru throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Wolf keeping moving, preventing Guru from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wolf working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Guru. Guru preventing the sweep. Wolf trying to keep a closed guard but Guru is proving a slippery customer.
Guru looking to pass the guard. Guru with a flurry of punches that miss. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Guru accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Guru is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wolf is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wolf has escaped and now he's on top! Guru has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Guru controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wolf trying to control the position from guard on top but Guru is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Guru seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Wolf wants to control from the top but Guru keeps moving. Guru has a closed guard, preventing Wolf from standing up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Red Wolf. Wolf lands with a slapping head kick. Wolf throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Guru shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wolf as he jumps to the side. Guru misses with a takedown attempt and Wolf counters with a nice low kick that buckles Guru's knee momentarily. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Wolf throws an overhand right that lands on Guru's shoulder, as Guru tries to avoid the shot. Wolf tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Wolf throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Red Wolf will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Guru tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wolf sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Guru somewhat. Wolf thows a body shot but no joy. Guru tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wolf swivels and escapes. Wolf tries a head kick but it misses.
Guru takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Nice sprawl there from Wolf as Guru shoots in. Red Wolf has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ground Guru. Wolf throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Guru moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
That's one minute gone in the round. Guru shoots in looking for a takedown but Wolf manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Guru's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. No luck for Guru with that takedown attempt. Guru fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Red Wolf is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Guru dives in and grabs Wolf's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wolf pushes down on Guru's head and hops out. Wolf scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Guru doesn't seem bothered though. Wolf stuffs the takedown attempt from Guru. Guru gets slowly back to his feet. Wolf misses the shot to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. No joy there for Wolf, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Guru counters with a single leg into guard. Wolf didn't expect that. Guru with a flurry of punches that miss. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Guru working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Guru trying to control the position from guard on top but Wolf is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Guru postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wolf is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Guru, into his guard. Wolf got a little sloppy there for a moment and Guru has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wolf has managed to get both his arms back between Guru's legs - danger averted.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Guru looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Guru trying to keep a closed guard but Wolf is proving a slippery customer.
Wolf slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Wolf trying to control the position from guard on top but Guru is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Guru escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wolf gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Guru has his foot on Wolf's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wolf works his way back into a safe position though. Wolf avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Guru is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Guru working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wolf doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wolf manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Wolf passes Guru's right leg, so he's now in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ground Guru showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Ground Guru has got the better of the ground game so far. Wolf wants to control from the top but Guru keeps moving. Wolf won't allow Guru to sweep him here. Guru throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

We're going to have a standup here because Red Wolf wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Wolf lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Guru blocks the body kick.
Ground Guru is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Guru takes one to the side of the head.
Red Wolf is winning the standup battle so far. A slow jab from Wolf misses its intended target. Wolf throws an overhand right that lands on Guru's shoulder, as Guru tries to avoid the shot. Guru shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wolf but Wolf pushes him off and we're back to square one.
