Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juan Mato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Scarpavi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Juan Mato! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roger Scarpavi! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mato takes one on the button. Scarpavi works over Mato's head and body with a nice combination. Mato throws a hook but Scarpavi avoids it easily. Scarpavi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Mato misses with a few strikes there.
Mato shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Scarpavi pinned against the cage. Scarpavi gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Scarpavi misses with a series of wild punches.
Mato wants to clinch. Mato takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Mato lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Mato.
It looks like Roger Scarpavi has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A combination from Mato does no damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mato looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Scarpavi lands with a right hand. Roger Scarpavi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Scarpavi takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Mato is looking to take this fight into the clinch. A left lands for Scarpavi. Scarpavi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mato moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mato throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Scarpavi's waist but Scarpavi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mato off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Mato. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mato walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. No luck for Mato with that takedown attempt. Decent striking displayed by Scarpavi there. Mato moves in looking to clinch but Scarpavi pushes him off. Scarpavi throws a series of punches but Mato avoids them all with ease. Scarpavi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Scarpavi throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mato on the side of the head. Mato dodges the punch combination from Scarpavi.
Scarpavi cracks Mato with a right hand to the side of the head. Nice body punch from Scarpavi. Scarpavi blocks a head kick by Mato.
Scarpavi throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Mato tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Scarpavi swivels and escapes. Mato is breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Scarpavi takes one to the chin there. Scarpavi connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Mato momentarily.

Mato misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Scarpavi tests Mato's chin there with a solid looking shot. Scarpavi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mato circles away quickly and effectively. Mato gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A left and a right from Scarpavi both land. Nice combination. Mato takes a jab right on the kisser.

Roger Scarpavi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Scarpavi swats away the attempt to clinch by Mato. Mato fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Scarpavi is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Mato had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Mato shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Scarpavi as he avoids it easily. Scarpavi throws a series of punches but Mato avoids them all with ease. Mato walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Scarpavi misses with the combination.
Scarpavi lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mato changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Scarpavi tries to avoid it but Mato manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Scarpavi to the ground. Scarpavi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mato ducks right into an uppercut from Scarpavi. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roger Scarpavi dominated that round. The cut man is working on Roger Scarpavi's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Scarpavi's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Scarpavi duly obliges. Scarpavi might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Scarpavi misses with a double jab.
Scarpavi throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Mato takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Mato shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Scarpavi as he avoids it easily. Scarpavi misses with a jab, cross combination.
Scarpavi feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Matos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Mato will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Nice body punch from Scarpavi. Scarpavi showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mato.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Scarpavi throws a left and a right that both miss
and Mato counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mato. Mato drags the fight down to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Scarpavi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Mato looking for a guillotine here but Scarpavi defends easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scarpavi wants to stand but Mato has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Scarpavi controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Roger Scarpavi wasn't active enough on the ground. Mato takes one to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scarpavi scores with a nice head shot. Scarpavi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mato throws a series of punches but Scarpavi avoids them all with ease. Danga de danga de dang - Scarpavi scores with a four punch combination! Mato closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Scarpavi throws a body punch but Mato moves out of range. Juan Mato is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mato lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Scarpavi circles away quickly and effectively. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Scarpavi lands a right hook to the body.
Scarpavi lands with an uppercut that bounces Mato off the cage and back into range. Mato shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Scarpavi lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Mato scores with a kick to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mato shoots in for a double leg but Scarpavi sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Mato. That's going to take a lot out of him. Scarpavi scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Scarpavi fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Scarpavi punishes Mato's body with a nice straight punch. Scarpavi works the jab nicely. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mato. Scarpavi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mato moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Scarpavi throws a right and a left that Mato avoids nicely. Scarpavi stuns Mato with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Mato shoots in but no luck this time. Mato moves forwards but Scarpavi connects with a nice, crisp jab. Mato looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Scarpavi dips to his left and cracks Mato with an uppercut!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mato throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Mato is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Scarpavi. Jab, jab by Scarpavi - just one landing. Mato takes a jab right on the kisser.
Scarpavi digs a good hook to Mato's body.

Mato tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Scarpavi paws at him with a jab and circles away. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mato tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. The crowd cheers as Scarpavi lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mato doesn't seem phased though. Mato darts in and clinches Scarpavi up against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roger Scarpavi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Roger Scarpavi's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Scarpavi dips to his left and cracks Mato with an uppercut! Mato tries to close the distance and clinch up but Scarpavi swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mato fails with a takedown attempt. Mato on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Scarpavi has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Scarpavi connects with a good right hand that stumbles Mato. Mato circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Mato misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Mato. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mato misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Scarpavi lands a head shot. Mato plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
That's one minute gone in the round. Scarpavi bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Mato's head. Mato rushes Scarpavi and presses him up against the cage. Scarpavi scores with a shoulder strike. Scarpavi keeps control of Mato as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Scarpavi is trying to force a seperation but Mato has the dominant position. Scarpavi wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Scarpavi is trying to break the clinch but Mato is controlling him. Mato keeps control of Scarpavi as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Scarpavi stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scarpavi wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Mato pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Scarpavi lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Scarpavi. Mato rushes Scarpavi and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Scarpavi is looking to break free of the clinch but Mato has double underhooks. Scarpavi working hard to break the clinch. Mato prevents Scarpavi from breaking the clinch. Scarpavi wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mato has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Scarpavi after a bit of a struggle. Scarpavi blocks an elbow strike from Mato.
Mato tries to pull guard but Scarpavi holds him up against the cage and eventually Mato drops back down to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mato prevents Scarpavi from breaking the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scarpavi is looking to break free of the clinch but Mato has double underhooks. Scarpavi tries to break free but Mato pushes him back against the cage. Scarpavi working hard to break the clinch. Mato keeps control of Scarpavi as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Mato has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Scarpavi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Scarpavi is trying to break the clinch but Mato is controlling him. Scarpavi is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Mato breaks the clinch.
Scarpavi connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. A combination from Scarpavi does no damage. A nice inside leg kick there by Mato. That's going to slow Scarpavi down. Mato tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scarpavi bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Mato's head. Mato throws a head kick that misses. Scarpavi slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Scarpavi jabs Mato right on the nose. Mato blinks but takes it well. Mato takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. A jab from Scarpavi does it's job there. Mato fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Scarpavi feints a jab promting Mato to slip. Scarpavi then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mato slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Scarpavi scores with a jab to the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mato throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Scarpavi's waist but Scarpavi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mato off to one side. Decent striking displayed by Scarpavi there. Juan Mato has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Roger Scarpavi is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Scarpavi scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Roger Scarpavi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Scarpavi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
