Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Kramer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
26 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Boris Kharitonov! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kharitonov misses with a two punch combination.
Kharitonov stuffs the takedown. Kharitonov stuffs the takedown attempt from Kramer. Kramer gets slowly back to his feet. Kramer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kharitonov as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Kramer. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kramer misses with a takedown attempt - Kharitonov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. John Kramer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. It looks like John Kramer has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kharitonov lands a big uppercut and Kramer crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Kramer looks OK. Kharitonov waves Kramer back to his feet! Kharitonov blocks a head kick by Kramer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kramer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kharitonov's guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Kharitonov looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Kramer throws a strike but Kharitonov rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Kharitonov being controlled here momentarily. Kharitonov wanted to stand there but Kramer had control of the position. Kharitonov gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Kharitonov drops Kramer with a beautiful combination! Kramer stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Kharitonov is looking for the KO!
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kharitonov drops Kramer with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Kramer looks back up at him and smiles so Kharitonov waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Kramer is rocked!
John Kramer's cut is getting worse. Kramer uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kharitonov. Kramer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kharitonov as he avoids it easily. Kramer darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Kramer not landing any meaningful shots this time. Kramer drops an elbow to the side of Kharitonov's head. Kharitonov is holding on to half guard well. Kramer is thwarting Kharitonov's attempts to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kramer is trying to control. Kharitonov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Kramer wants to pass the guard but Kharitonov is defending well. Kramer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kramer is trying to control. Kharitonov wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
We're going to have a standup here because John Kramer wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Kharitonov lands a body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kharitonov throws a head kick but Kramer moves out of range.

John Kramer's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kharitonov wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Kharitonov lands a big head kick that sends Kramer to the canvas! Kharitonov follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Boris Kharitonov! A relieved looking Boris Kharitonov thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
