Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Quala Bear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lyoto Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Jackson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jackson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Bear's head backwards.
Jackson blocks a low kick nicely.
Jackson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Bear throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jackson.
Jackson misses with a wild body shot.
Bear pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jackson jabs Bear to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Bear staying out of range there.
Bear tries to move into range but Jackson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jackson. Bear does a little dance to reset his feet.

Bear displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bear rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Jackson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jackson scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Jackson walks into a left hand.
Jackson misses with an uppercut. Bear saw that one coming.
Bear fails to land with a series of punches.

Some bone on bone action there as Jackson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Bear connects with a nice looking jab.
Bear lunges at Jackson with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jackson's hand.
Jackson wants to clinch.
Jackson throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Bear.
Jackson fails to land with a series of punches.
Bear blocks a jab.
Lyoto Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Jackson takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Bear scores with a nice right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
No luck for Bear with that takedown attempt.
Jackson looks to throw the jab but Bear is out of range.

Bear steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Jackson. That one must have hurt.
Jackson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Bear to score with a decent uppercut.

Bear throws a jab when Jackson was well out of range.
Jackson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bear shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Bear's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jackson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bear.
A telegraphed right hand from Bear misses the target.
Jackson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jackson feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Bear's calf.
Jackson misses with an uppercut. Bear saw that one coming.
Bear scores with a jab.
Jackson throws a low kick but it's checked well by Bear.
Jackson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Jackson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Bear drives through with a takedown into Jackson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Jackson has Bear pulled in close to control his posture.
Bear in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Bear content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Jackson is trying to control the position but Bear postures up.
Bear throwing strikes from guard but Jackson blocks nicely.
Bear wants to pass the guard but Jackson is keeping the position.
Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bear. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bear postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jackson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bear, into his guard.
Bear looking for a sweep. Not yet Bear, not yet.
Jackson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Bear is working hard here to advance position.

Bear is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Jackson wants to stand but Bear is controlling his posture from full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bear wants to sweep here but Jackson controlling him for the moment.
Bear has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bear is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bear is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jackson defends it well.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Bear is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jackson has managed to free his arm - good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quala Bear dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Bear lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Bear avoids the head kick by Jackson.
Bear falls off balance throwing a combination
and Jackson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Jackson throws a sloppy head kick and Bear moves out of range easily.
Quala Bear is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bear fails to land the takedown.
Quala Bear seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A good leg kick by Jackson.
Bear's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Bear duly obliges.
Jackson wants to clinch.
Bear throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Bear throws a hook to the side of Jackson's head but Jackson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jackson tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Bear counters with a right hand to the body.

Bear misses with a body shot
and Jackson makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Bear really felt that one!
Bear lands a two punch combo.
Jackson missing with a left hand there. Bear was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Bear throws a body kick that misses
and Jackson counters with a solid body kick.
Bear avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jackson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Jackson scores with a jab to the head.
Bear tries to bum rush Jackson with a series of wild strikes but Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jackson tries to clinch there but Bear circles away.
Bear lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Bear misses with a shot to the body
and Jackson counters with a low kick, right behind Bear 's knee.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Quala Bear is winning the standup battle so far.
Jackson misses with a low kick as Bear jumps back.
Bear digs a good hook to Jackson's body.

Bear throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jackson on the side of the head.

Jackson feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Bear's calf.

Bear thuds his right hand into Jackson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Bear shoots in but Jackson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bear looks to score with a jab to the body but Jackson is just out of range.
Jackson wants to clinch.
Bear thows a leg kick but Jackson checks it
and Jackson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Bear tries to score with some ground and pound. Jackson controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Jackson is trying to get back to his feet.
Bear in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Bear tries for a kimura but Jackson is defending well.

Bear wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well.

Jackson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bear throws an elbow but Jackson slips to the side and avoids it well.
Jackson managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Bear.
Jackson is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Bear has hold of Jackson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Jackson seems comfortable defending it but Bear has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Jackson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Jackson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Bear couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Quala Bear!
An out of breath Quala Bear thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
