PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Yuri Khaslov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Long Dong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khaslov's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, You can't bring me down. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Yuri Khaslov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Long Dong!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Micheangelo Fripello and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khaslov tries for a takedown but Dong circles away easily

and Dong counters with a shoot takedown. Khaslov fights it but they end up in guard.

Dong has gone for a leg lock! Khaslov slips out almost immediately though and dives into Dong's guard.
Khaslov is looking to work some ground and pound but Dong has wrist control.
Dong working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Khaslov.
Khaslov cracks Dong with a solid left hand.
Khaslov postures up in Dong's guard and throws a big left but Dong blocks it.
Khaslov lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Khaslov scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Dong working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Khaslov.
Khaslov stands up over Dong, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Khaslov wants to pass the guard but Dong is keeping the position.
Dong preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Khaslov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Khaslov missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Dong has momentary wrist control but Khaslov slips an elbow through the middle.
Khaslov throwing strikes but missing.
Khaslov throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Dong is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Khaslov defends well.
Dong utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Dong has his foot on Khaslov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Khaslov works his way back into a safe position though.
Khaslov throws an elbow that misses. Dong uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Khaslov's guard. Nice move by Dong!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Khaslov on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Khaslov tries to get out of the position.
Dong trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Khaslov is pulling down on Dong's head to control his posture.
Dong missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Khaslov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We're going to have a standup here because Yuri Khaslov wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Khaslov has a takedown stuffed.

Dong swats away the attempt to clinch by Khaslov.
No joy there for Dong, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Dong gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Khaslov's jab looks to have found its range, popping Dong under the eye.
Khaslov tries to close the distance and clinch but Dong swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Khaslov looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Dong!
Khaslov is breathing heavily.
Dong parries the strikes from Khaslov easily there. Khaslov is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Dong to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dong is trying to control Khaslov's posture but Khaslov avoids it.
Khaslov lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Khaslov cracks Dong with a big elbow.

Khaslov looks up at the clock and then as Dong takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Khaslov smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dong can't do much from the bottom here.
Dong sneaks back into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yuri Khaslov dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Khaslov fails in his attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Khaslov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Khaslov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dong sprawls well. Dong wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Khaslov gets slowly back to his feet.
Khaslov misses the shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khaslov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dong is fending him off so far but Khaslov persists. Nope, Dong circles away and we're back to standing.

Khaslov moves into range and clinches up with Dong.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Khaslov is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Khaslov is looking to work some ground and pound but Dong has wrist control.
Dong trying to keep a closed guard but Khaslov is proving a slippery customer.
Khaslov throws a big elbow that misses.

Dong working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Khaslov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Dong is tightening it up a little... Khaslov has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Khaslov reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Khaslov taps out! Nice BJJ there by Dong!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Long Dong!
Long Dong spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
