PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Florijan Jagatic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travon Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Florijan Jagatic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Travon Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taylor closes the distance and pushes Jagatic back into the cage.
Taylor blocks an elbow strike.
Taylor dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Jagatic pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Taylor wants the takedown. Jagatic is fighting it off but Taylor persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jagatic's guard against the cage.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Taylor has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jagatic is proving hard to escape from.
Taylor's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Taylor prevents Jagatic from getting back to his feet.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Travon Taylor hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Jagatic throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Taylor closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jagatic to the mat! Jagatic manages to get full guard.
Taylor is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Jagatic will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jagatic is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Jagatic wants to sweep but no luck.
Taylor throws a big elbow that misses.
Jagatic can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Taylor controls the pace.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jagatic throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jagatic wants to clinch

and Taylor holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Jagatic creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Taylor's defenses.

Taylor breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Taylor slips a jab and a cross from Jagatic.
Some wild striking there from Jagatic.
Florijan Jagatic seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jagatic misses with a two punch combination.
Taylor should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Jagatic goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Jagatic is breathing heavily.
Jagatic misses with a double jab

and Taylor counters with a single leg into guard. Jagatic didn't expect that.
Taylor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jagatic swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Taylor controlling from the top position.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Taylor wants to stand but Jagatic has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Taylor is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Travon Taylor wasn't active enough on the ground.

Taylor decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jagatic is looking to improve his position.
Taylor takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Travon Taylor dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jagatic wants to clinch

and Taylor decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jagatic's guard.

Let's hope that Taylor has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Jagatic trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Travon Taylor has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Jagatic tries to clinch but Taylor is having none of it.
A combination from Jagatic does no damage.
Taylor dodges the punch combination from Jagatic.

Taylor changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jagatic looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Taylor creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Taylor wants to stand but Jagatic is controlling his arm.

Taylor decides to stand back up.
Taylor throws a low kick but it's checked well by Jagatic.
Taylor throws a half hearted mid kick.
Jagatic ducks under a wild hook from Taylor.
Taylor displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jagatic.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Taylor throws a hook but Jagatic blocks it.

Taylor throws a series of punches but Jagatic moves out of range.

Taylor drives through and clinches with Jagatic against the cage.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Taylor has eaten all the pies!
Jagatic tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Taylor with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Jagatic fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Taylor wants to get back to striking at distance but Jagatic won't allow it.
Jagatic creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Taylor dodges an elbow strike from Jagatic.
Jagatic wants to stall.
Jagatic pushes off an throws an elbow but Taylor leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Jagatic tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Taylor manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Taylor scores with a short punch from the bottom.

Taylor is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Jagatic being controlled here momentarily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Travon Taylor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


A left and a right from Taylor both land. Nice combination.
Left hook, right uppercut from Jagatic.
Jagatic closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Jagatic throws a series of punches but Taylor avoids them all with ease.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Taylor.
Taylor is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Taylor wants to stand but Jagatic has his arm trapped.
Taylor really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jagatic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jagatic tries to buck Taylor off but Taylor is having none of it.

Taylor is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jagatic knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Jagatic will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Taylor drops back looking for a leg! Jagatic is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jagatic manages to kick Taylor off! Taylor jumps back into Jagatic's guard.
Taylor stays in close to Jagatic's body and controls the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Travon Taylor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Taylor winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
