Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Obie Trice! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vladimir Hohenheim! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hohenheim looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Trice slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Hohenheim throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Trice works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Hohenheim really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Trice. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hohenheim wants to control from the top but Trice keeps moving. Hohenheim looking to sit in guard and control but Trice gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Trice engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Trice thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Trice slips nicely into half guard. Trice prevents Hohenheim from improving his position. Trice slows the pace down in half guard. Trice stops Hohenheim from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Trice not doing much here.
Trice's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Obie Trice has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Hohenheim tries to clinch up but Trice circles away and keeps his distance. Hohenheim tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Trice manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Hohenheim scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Trice tries to get back to half guard but can't. Hohenheim trying to control the action but Trice is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Trice is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hohenheim off and has taken his back! Hohenheim is trying to break free.
Hohenheim is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Hohenheim is trying to defend against the choke here but Trice has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Trice Tightens the hold and Hohenheim taps out furiously! Trice displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Obie Trice!
