Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kyle Eder! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jun Akiyama! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akiyama shoots and misses and Eder counters with a good low kick that Akiyama was not able to check. Akiyama shoots and misses and Akiyama takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Akiyama takes a jab right on the kisser.
Akiyama misses with a takedown and Eder counters with a low kick, right behind Akiyama 's knee. Kyle Eder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jun Akiyama. Eder throws a leg kick which misses Akiyama's front leg but catches the back leg as Akiyama tries to avoid it. Eder thows a body kick. Akiyama tries to catch it but that hurt him. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Eder throws a sloppy head kick and Akiyama moves out of range easily. A left lands for Eder. Eder throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Akiyama. Akiyama shoots in looking for a takedown but Eder manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Akiyama's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Akiyama misses with a takedown and Eder counters with a body kick that stops Akiyama in his tracks momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Akiyama shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Eder sprawls well. Eder wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Akiyama gets slowly back to his feet. Akiyama on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Eder throws a nice outside leg kick. Eder lands with a shot to the body. Eder drops Akiyama with a beautiful combination! Akiyama stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Eder is looking for the KO!
Akiyama is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Akiyama with a poor takedown and Eder counters with a right hand from hell and Akiyama is out cold! A vicious knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kyle Eder! Kyle Eder spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
