Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tsuyoshi Tamatso! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Satoshi Kajiwara! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kajiwara tries to clinch but Tamatso moves away and Tamatso counters by moving into the clinch. Tamatso ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Tamatso no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Tamatso preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Kajiwara got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tamatso has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kajiwara has managed to get both his arms back between Tamatso's legs - danger averted. Kajiwara tries to stand but Tamatso is controlling from the bottom. Tamatso had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kajiwara defends it easily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kajiwara tries to stand but Tamatso is controlling from the bottom. Tamatso is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kajiwara wanted to stand there but Tamatso had control of the position. Tamatso working a defensive guard here.
Tamatso looking for a sweep. Not yet Tamatso, not yet. Tamatso trying to keep a closed guard but Kajiwara is proving a slippery customer.
Kajiwara won't allow Tamatso to sweep him here. Tamatso escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kajiwara gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Kajiwara got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tamatso has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kajiwara has managed to get both his arms back between Tamatso's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tamatso has his foot on Kajiwara's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kajiwara works his way back into a safe position though. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kajiwara avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Kajiwara trying to stand up but can't free himself from Tamatso's guard. Kajiwara really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tamatso. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Tamatso had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kajiwara defends it easily. Kajiwara throws a strike but Tamatso rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Tamatso seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kajiwara looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Tamatso passes into side control.
Tamatso lands some shots froms side control. Kajiwara is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Tamatso has just dragged him back down to the mat. Tamatso working the body and head with strikes. Kajiwara is working to avoid the ground and pound but Tamatso connects with a decent elbow. Kajiwara tries to get back to half guard but can't. Kajiwara pushes Tamatso away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Tamatso gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tamatso remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Kajiwara is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Tamatso is controlling him well. Kajiwara bucks up and tries to throw Tamatso off but instead Tamatso has got his back! Tamatso has got one arm under Kajiwara's chin. This could be trouble... Kajiwara trying to control the other hand but Tamatso gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Kajiwara has tapped out! The fight is over!
