Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Dodd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Muhammed Lawal!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dodd.
Dodd scores with a body shot.
Dodd misses with a series of wild punches.
Dodd shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lawal pinned against the cage. Lawal gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Dodd closes the distance and pushes Lawal back into the cage.

Dodd manages to pull guard.
Lawal wants to get up but he can't break Dodd's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Lawal wants to stand and escape but instead Dodd has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Dodd passes Lawal's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Lawal scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Dodd manages to mount him!
Lawal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dodd. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lawal can do anything to dispel that myth.

Dodd wants to control the pace but Lawal is squirming around nicely.
Dodd is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lawal is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Dodd has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

You get the feeling that Lawal really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Dodd is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Lawal to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lawal shrugs it off.

Lawal is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Dodd won't let Lawal get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lawal's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dodd looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lawal is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Lawal counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like David Dodd has been cut.

Dodd shoots in and bounces Lawal off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Lawal is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dodd is controlling him.
Dodd is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Dodd stops Lawal from standing up.
Lawal is wriggling around but Dodd manages to pass to half guard.

Lawal is breathing heavily.
Lawal won't allow Dodd to pass to mount.
Dodd seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lawal does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Dodd is looking to take a break and control but Lawal is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Dodd works his way into full mount!

Lawal is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Dodd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dodd is working for a rear naked choke. Lawal is not defending it well and Dodd has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Lawal refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Lawal's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
