Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steffan Bonnar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Whitey Marsh ! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marsh has closed the distance and engaged Bonnar in a clinch.
Marsh tries to break the clinch but Bonnar is controlling the position. Bonnar is trying to force a seperation but Marsh has the dominant position. Marsh lands a takedown into guard.
Bonnar is pulling down on Marsh 's head. It's preventing any offense from Marsh , at least for the moment. Marsh drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bonnar looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bonnar looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bonnar! Marsh tries to bench press Bonnar off him but Bonnar keeps the position. Bonnar cracks Marsh with a big right hand but Marsh just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Marsh sneaks back into half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Marsh looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Marsh looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marsh looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Bonnar takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Marsh looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Marsh looking for submissions off his back. Bonnar is keen to just control but Marsh is a slippery customer. Bonnar is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Marsh is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bonnar pulls his head out easily. Marsh looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marsh taking some punishment here, with Bonnar in his half guard. Marsh looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Nice strikes from Bonnar there. Marsh looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Bonnar frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Bonnar lands a heavy elbow. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bonnar lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Bonnar unloading with bombs! Marsh slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Marsh looking for subs from the bottom but Bonnar mounts him! Marsh looks winded! Marsh taking shots to the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bonnar tries to control but Marsh wriggling away. Marsh is trying to escape the mount.
Bonnar lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Marsh hang on? Marsh is in a horrible position here. Bonnar smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Bonnar prevents Marsh from getting the reversal. Bonnar drops a big elbow. That's hurt Marsh ! More shots from Bonnar and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
